Chocolate Colored Tux?

I am not a huge fan of black tuxes for my wedding day but I would never choose white. I saw that Mens Warehouse has a chocolate colored one which would go better with my dress since it is champage colored... my question: Is a brown tux dated? I know that they were big back in the day but are they making a come back? Or is my bridal party going to look like they are from the 70's?

Re: Chocolate Colored Tux?

• I'm not a fan of them. There's something classic about a black tux.
• I, too, am not a fan of them. I haven't seen them at recent weddings, either. But if it's what you want, then go for it!
• Let your FI handle the tuxes. You shouldn't be the one making the final decision on the menswear (give your input, of course, but he makes the final call).

My personal opinion - wedding tuxes should always be black. And I don't get how a classic black tux wouldn't "go with" a champagne gown, since black is a neutral, classic color. To answer your question, I feel that they really do look dated and out of place.

But if your FI is the one who wants brown then he should get it. He can go to the shop, try some different things on and see what he likes best.

• Let your fiance choose. Personally i think they should be black. If someone wants to wear brown i would not side eye as much if it was a grandpa or father but i would think it looks funny if it was a wp.

• I think it must be a regional thing. Ive been to quite a few weddings with brown tuxes. But I feel its more casual than a classic black tux
• I hate brown tuxes. I really think black is the way to go. If you don't want black, I have seen grey ones look nice also.

• I'll go against the crowd here, and say if you want chocolate brown tuxes, go for it. We had them for my wedding because they fit better with the softer look I wanted.

• We are going with brown. For our fall wedding we decided it would fit better. Who cares if it was from the 70s it doesn't mean you cant do it today. My BM have burnt orange and brown dresses so black really wasn't even a thought for us. Just because it isn't black doesn't mean it won't look as nice or be as formal.
• I'm also going with the chocolate brown tuxes for my fall wedding . It looks totally awesome with our fall colors. Tuxes don't "have" to be black. Don't listen to close minded people, just do what you want and what you feels looks Good. I've been to a few weddings were groomsmen and groom wore brown tuxes and it looked great!
• I couldn't agree more! U have great taste!
• A tux is a tux and it is totally up to what both of you want. I have been to various weddings in which the tux was brown and it was absolutely stunning. Tradition is out the door, go with your gut feeling and who cares what others think, if they don't like it just simply tell them "Its your wedding!!!!"

• The guys are wearing dark brown tuxes at my daughter's wedding. It is in the fall, and she thought they would look good with her champagne colored dress and the bridesmaids' bronze colored dresses. Flowers and accents are orange. All in the same warm color family. I don't see anything wrong with it, and I think it will be beautiful.

That sounds beautiful! Similar to the colors we are having too! I think some people think of brown tuxes as if they were light brown or something from the 70's. Chocolate brown is a DARK brown, almost black looking from a distance but softer looking. It looks AMAZING with fall colors. Black didn't even cross my mind for a fall wedding.
• We chose the chocolate brown tux from MW (our colors are dark brown and green, so a black tux just would not work without clashing, IMO). They look great, I've seen several recent pics of weddings with brown tux's and they are certainly not the 70's tux...assuming you'll forego the ruffled shirt ;)

• They look great! I love the boutineers too!
• we are also doing brown tuxedo. Our colors are Malibu blue, brown and yellow, wedding outdoors in June. I let my FI pick out the tuxedo and he choose brown, I was leaning more towards grey but I let him decide and I will support his decision. They will all look great!!
