make -up /hair artist

I've been starting to look a little late in the game I know ... anyways they all have consultation fee. For some reason I was under the impression trials were free b/c you more than likely book with them?

So I've spoken with 2 companies both require $150 trial fee hair and make up is this normal? please don't laugh I feel like I'm breaking the bank for make up and updo that will last only hrs.

  • Yeah it's pretty standard around here to pay for a trial AND day of. Altogether I'm paying about $250 and I'm splurging on airbrush makeup.

Don't wanna worry about my makeup fading or creasing, plus I don't trust myself doing my hair day of, lol!

the trial is $150 and day of $200 for the day of I feel like that makes sense, but the trial I feel like is a little over board. IDK ... I've never had professional make up like this before lol

I never wear anything more than lip gloss to begin with!!!
  • All the places I looked at had a cost for the trial. Most of them had it set cheaper than the day of, but not all and not always by much.

I just booked my trial today for January 12. For complete hair and make up for me it's 150. I am also going the airbrush route. I am more stressed about my hair since its not that long may have to get some extensions. The trail is 50 half due now other half is due the day of... That's also my retainer to save my date if I decide to go with her also...

  • I paid for my makeup trial, it worked out because I did it the day of my engagement photos. The hair person I booked does have a separate charge for the trial, but some other ones I checked with charged more overall and it included a trial. I assume if you don't actually book them they would then charge you just for the trial.

  • My hair and makeup trial is $10 cheaper for each because it will be at the salon.  $60 for hair, $40 for makeup.  The day of the wedding, it's $70 for hair and $50 for makeup, but the stylist is coming to my house.  She will also be doing updos for the bridal party at $70 each.

  • I think the 2 places I checked so far (salons in the same town as our church) charge $60 for updos (same price for bride & other girls) and they also have a makeup artist. I need to get going on that and schedule appointments soon....
