Guest list

Figuring out the guest list has been by far the most stressful part of planning for me. Guess I'm lucky to say that though! I'm crossing my fingers for the 20% rejection. I realize that's not ideal, to invite more than you're really hoping for, but that's how it turned out to keep everyone happy (not so much who we wanted to invite, but more so if you invite this person, then you have to invite that person, etc). If more show up than we're hoping for, it wouldn't be a huge deal, we'd still be within our budget, it would just be a bit cozy at the reception. I'm curious how many other brides-to-be are in the same situation with hoping for a certain percentage of declines, and for those already married, if more showed up than you were hoping to, and how that went over...

About 70% of our guests that were invited came to the wedding. But we did have a lot of out-of-towners that were invited, so a lot of them didn't make it.

We had 250 on the list, had 190 attend.  We got married on a Friday though which I'm sure had somethign to do with it.  In the end though, I was just grateful for anyone who set aside time to come celebrate with us and it didn't really matter to me how many butts were in seats.

I am with you nordke!! I am at the max/cozy limit for my venue so I am really hoping that a couple tables worth of people can't make it. Our wedding is on a Friday up north so I think it will add to the decline list along with a lot of out of town guests. I know because our venue was so small to begin with though our final guest list was already pretty cut back to just the most important people who we knew would come.

Totally in your same situation! We are inviting about 400, and kind of hoping only about 300 will come. We are also inviting a lot of out of town people and we can make it work if we need to (our venue holds like 500) but budget wise, it would be kind of nice if about 20-25% don't come. It seems a bit risky but thats just how the guest list worked out! We have only gotten about 1/4 of the rsvps in, but so far it seems like 25% are not coming.

I was completely panicked because we invited more people than we realistically should have to our already big wedding, and we were getting hardly any declines in the beginning. By the time our RSVP due date rolled around, our decline rate was a nice comfortable 26%.

We had about a 93% yes rate! We we're kind of surprised, but it was mid April so I think everyone was in town.  Our venue easily held that many, but our pocketbooks were kind of planning around 200 and we ended up with 226.  Either way it was a great time and worth every penny :) Happy Planning!

We are inviting over also. We are expecting quite a high decline rate since 75% are OOT.

My venue easily holds around 400 or more (Landmark Center) and we are only inviting around 170-180 so I'm not worried about that, but I'm a little worried about the cost. Bleh.
