For the past few weeks, FI and I have been tossing around ideas for centerpieces. Even going so far as going to Ikea and buying a few ideas and setting them up on the table. (only to find out we hated it. LOL)

Today, my grandma called and had the BEST idea. We're so excited to know we have it settled. Instead of a giant wedding cake, we are doing small cakes on each table to serve as a centerpiece!

It'll look something like this (but with different colors and no flowers) Plus she mentioned that she will take care of this for us so we can take it out of our budget.

Yeah, we plan on having a cake to cut. It's going to look like this: (but with edible gold dust so it looks like champagne has spilled) Also it'll only be 2 tiers now and not 3

Champagne is one of our colors and became a huge part of the theme once we started.

that's really cute!...but who's going to cut the individual cakes? not to be a wet blanket, just asking a logistical question.

I LOVE that idea!! So cool ... but I have the same question as Jaridds - will you have waiters to cut the cakes for everyone?

That's actually a very good question. I think we will either have it cut by servers or I read that one bride had a countdown at her wedding and had a designated person from each table cut the cake with them. If we went that route, I would put a note on the table asking if they would do us the honor of serving the cake to their table.

Not sure though, since that could irritate people if it's not worded correctly and if we pick the wrong person. Definitely something to think about more.

I like this idea. It will make is simple so your guests do not have to wait in a line to get cake. It definitely also takes care of your centerpieces. That was very nice of your grandma to take that cost out of your hands! Cake and centerpieces are so expensive.
