Getting in Shape

Embarassed.. with 7 weeks to go

So I had a fitting today and to be honest I'm pretty ashamed with myself to get where I am. I'm the most out of shape I've ever been, and I thought I was going to have a meltdown at the fitting.

I have 7 weeks to the wedding, and I desperately need to tone my back and arms. My dress has cut outs in the back, and it's absolutely non forgiving to back fat. Is it nearly possible to eat right, exercize and loose the back fat in only 7 weeks?

Re: Embarassed.. with 7 weeks to go

  • I wouldn't say it's possible to make a drastic change, but you can definitely do a lot in 7 weeks. I would make sure you're eating well, drinking a lot of water, and doing a lot of arm and back exercises to tone up. If you don't have any, I'd pick up some weights (maybe 10 pounds? Not sure what weight to suggest). You can do a lot for your arms and back with just a couple free weights!

Definitely get some weights...you can probably do 10 pounds fairly easily...hell half of our purses weigh more than 10 pounds!   Do you have a gym membership, or can you afford a once weekly training session?  If not, then definitely invest in some weights and try to find a website that has awesome at home workouts...Most of us know what to do to lose weight and get in shape, but it's the motivation that's lacking...or at least that's my problem lol.

  • Congrats! Wow, I'm so excited for your upcoming nuptials in 7 weeks!! I went on the 7 Day Diet plan (it's a pink book! SO cute!) - it's really easy - and even w/o working out, within 17 days, I lost 20 lbs. I need to get back on that plan though before my own wedding!! :) But it's really good! I totally enjoyed it!! Good luck with everything!
  • It's a choice, make it or dont.

Whenever I need to lose weight quickly, I always make vegetable soup. It is zero points on weight watchers and it fills you up.

You can put anything in it but I use vegetable broth (or chicken) then add in a ton of cabbage, stewed tomatoes, onions, carrots, celery, kale. You can really put whatever you like in it. Just cook it all up and keep it in the fridge. I replace one meal with it, or you can eat it before a meal to help you eat less.

Hope this helps! Good luck, you can do it!

  • Thanks girls. I actually do have a gym membership, and I've thought about using their personal trainer, but I've been hesitant...not really sure why though. !
  • Not sure what your fitness level is but the Insanity program is doing wonders for myself and my fiance!  You work at your own pace, comes with a meal plan, a workout schedule and the DVD's - no extra equipment needed.  Its a 60 day program, my fiance is down 10 lbs after the first 2 weeks!!  Available at Walmart - $130 in Canada, but well worth it!
  • I agree with the post above. Insanity is insane lol! I lost 5lbs the first week. I def recommend following the meal plan because what you eat is 60% of losing weight. It is expensive but I found mine, brand new/unopened, on craigslist for $50. It is def hard, but the longest video I think is around 45 minutes including warm up and cool down....don't let this fool you as you WILL be counting down those minutes! If you want to look stellar in your dress, build up your determination and dive in! good luck
  • I totally understand where you are coming from but don't be down on youself!  Although 7 weeks seems like a little amount of time, you can really make positive changes to improve your body...believe and it will work!  I LOVE working out and have had luck with beachbody.com.  In addition to working out, you must start a healthy eating plan as well!  It is the only way.  I experienced gaining weight first hand when I trained for a 1/2 marathon but didn't monitor my food intake :(  Then I started eating right and working out and I have been averaging 1 1/2 pds weight loss per week, which is better than nothing!
