What did you forget?

OMH's - was there anything not listed on your wedding to do list or something you forgot to budget for?

Re: What did you forget?

I didn't forget any tangible items really, but the one thing I did forget to do on the wedding day is put my E-ring on my right hand... didn't even realize it till he went to put the wedding band on my hand.

    Oh well.

I forgot to take care of myself. I was so busy dealing with everyone elses crap, trying to make them happy that I forgot to do something borrowed, blue, etc. I forgot to shave my legs and I almost forgot to take a bath.

I left my e-ring on as well and I forgot my bouquet.

Yeah we got home after the rehearsal and errand running and we were almost about to go to bed and I felt really dumb that I forgot that ;) Getting married isn't an everyday occurence but bathing is...how could I screw that up? LOL.

I did not forget anything on my wedding weekend except my phone charger which Ben brought on Saturday.

The things I forgot were things at the end that I had not really thought about--two big ones of which were a swimsuit for the HM (which sucked since I got married in November and the only place I could get one was Just Add Water) and the wedding night attire (I waited so long that the outfit I really wanted was too expensive with shipping). And then a bunch of decor stuff like I wanted fresh rose petals for the cake table, oh yeah I need a card sign for the card box, pens for the guest book, beauty stuff like OMG, I need my eyebrows and a bikini wax, a spray tan, etc.

Stephie - We're doing a guest quilt. I didn't even think about what they're going to write with. I'm adding it to my list.

I also hadn't thought about the something borrowed, etc.

    Thanks ladies

Ahh, we got married in the Catholic Church, so the photographer has to stay behind the last pew with guests. So there was no closeup until AFTER the ceremony, which gave me time to fix it. :)

I forgot to budget for the tip for my hair and makeup artist. I had to text DH while I was getting ready and have him go get cash and meet one of my BM's to pick it up. I had pre paid them both so I had to tip in cash. That was an "oops" moment.

Same here with the E-ring. I forgot to hold my bouquet at my waist. I didn't forget, because I delegated it, but no one took the wrappers off the flower girl's lollipop bouquet. WHY would you think I would want her to walk down the aisle with clear wrappers on her lollipops. Oh well.

    I think that's it.

I kept trying to remember to keep my bouquet at my belly button but I never did. I don't think any bride does. Every bride I have ever seen in pictures has her bouquet practically up to her chin. Myself included.

I didn't switch my E-ring to my right hand. Ben just put the band over it and I switched it around after the ceremony.

Not me, I remembered!!! People kept telling me over and over. It looks kinda awkward though...the way I was holding it.

I forgot to put my bridal suite that I had made from Etsy on our suite door. :(

I forgot our aviator sunglasses for outdoor/pre-ceremony pictures. I had them until 2 minutes before the pictures and then a friend walked away with them in a bag.

    Stuff I WISH would've happened that didn't:

The reception venue people should've IRONED the table cloth on the cake table but didn't. It had creases in it.

Someone in our families should've picked up and THROWN AWAY the business cards that the cake people put on our cake table. They are all over the pictures.

Our photographer should have taken more pictures of the food buffet and the at least one pic of the guestbook table.

I was walking around like the statue of liberty with my boquet like the torch... not good.. but it was heavy and that was the only easy way to carry it.

I haven't thought about a tip for anyone! Geez Louise. Who else is tipped besides the DJ?

Lacey - Your flower girl bouquet sounds adorable. Would you mind sharing a photo?

We had tip envelopes for our DJ, MUA, and our ceremony musicians as well as a payment envelope for our officiates.
  • edited December 2011
Normally you tip DJ, MUA, Hair, caterer (unless its in the price), musicians, officiant, photographer (unless they own the company), bartenders.

We forgot to put out our toasting flutes that I made, forgot to iron all of our linens (really?!), and almost forgot to put the bout's on all of the guys! We had already done our first look and started pictures when I remembered them. I also didn't get any solo pics of me (and I was really counting on this since I didn't get bridals done)... grr. Proof that you need a day of coordinator to remember all of the things you can't :)

Also, I found out my parents forgot to tip the DJ. He owns the company, and he is an old friend, so hopefully he wasn't too mad. Maybe I should send him a "thank you" gift card or something...

DJ is typically 10% of their fee. Our officates were hired/paid so we didn't tip them. Hopefully someone else can answer.
