Catholic Weddings

Really excited for first pre-cana class this weekend :)

I am like bouncing off the walls of my office. For months now, we've been trying to get started on the whole marriage prep process, but the timing really hasn't been right (church changing priests, Sandy, all the holidays, work, life, etc.). This past weekend we finally made contact and got the OK to book the classes. (I had already looked on the diocese's website but they stress that you shouldn't book until you meet with a priest, but the church here was confused because we're getting married in Houston, and it's just.... complicated, apparently.)

We aren't doing a weekend retreat because our jobs just don't allow for us to be gone for a whole weekend... we'd have to be checking our phones/blackberry, and I doubt that's really allowed. The program we're doing is two Saturday all-day programs. I'm really curious to see what it's like. We're doing the second Saturday part in February, so we should be done with plenty of time to get everything else in order and sent down to Texas.

Just wanted to share!

...my mom also met with the florist last week and discussed all the fun flower things. Props to whomever suggested lisianthus a while back to go with the flowiness of my dress, the florist loved that idea and will be incorporating it into my bouquet and some of the centerpieces.

It's funny, we've been engaged nine months now and sometimes with the craziness of work, I forget about the wedding. Like people I haven't seen in a while will randomly ask how the planning is going and without fail I always get a blank expression and it takes a second to realize they're talking about MY wedding, which is THIS November. Ten months and a day from right now.

UNRELATED: I also saw an article somewhere in the New York Times about Catholic schools that I wanted to post (mostly how the church needs to step up and invest more in the schools because they are so important), but I lost the link and can't find it.
