No Ovens at Engagement Party Venue- what food to make/bring?

We had to cancel our original restaurant for our engagement party, and then had a hard time finding another restaurant to host in such a short time. Our friend offered us his beautiful condo party room, but the only problem is that there aren't any stovetops, ovens... or even mirowaves! There are only a few fridges, a dishwasher, and lots of countertop space.

Due to this issue, we've had a harder time finding a caterer that won't charge an arm and a leg, because they all say they have to bring in a portable oven to cook the food. We decided the best thing to do is to just cook our own food.

To add to the issue, this room holds up to 100 people and fmil decided to invite more people (gave them all the details, times, etc, then told them to expect a paper invite from me soon). We used to be a smaller crowd of around 30 when we were looking at restaurants, so that number went up big time.

So now, I have no way of heating food, and around 80 people to feed. Any ideas as to what we could make for that many people? Or how we can heat food or keep it warm if we go that route? The engagement party is in 3 weeks and I'm so lost!

  • Can you rent or buy warming trays and/or multiple crockpots, or have those trays that sit over small bunsen burner type flames?

  • Or instead of a catering company what about having a restaurant do the catering?  All the food will be cooked at the restaurant and they do have the means to keep the food warm on the way to the venue and possibly during the party.

  • Two words:  cold food.  Sandwiches, dips and chips and veggies, fruit, etc.  That's assuming that the room has fridges, though.

  • Are you hosting your own engagement party?
