Let's Try This Again! (Intro Do-Over)

I tried posting an intro post but I can't even seem to access it. Bummer. Every single time I click on it, it says an error has occured, and it takes me back to the board's main page, so to all you nice people who came to say hello and ask me questions, I'm sorry I can't even see anything!

Can...can we just start all over again?

I'm a new September bride. My FI and I were originally planning on a January 2013 wedding, but we decided instead what we really wanted was a casual outdoor BBQ wedding and we can't really do that in January. So, we moved it up and it's a lot to do in 6 months but we've been getting a lot of help from friends and family.

About us:

We met in 2005, got together in '08, got engaged in '10. He is a bank teller and I am an advertising assistant at a local newspaper. We have a bunny named Dickens. We both love Batman and Doctor Who, and we both serve on the executive board of the local chapter of the Zombie Research Society. I love to cook and he loves to eat.

I look forward to chatting with you, and I REALLY hope this thread sticks and I can actually respond to some of your messages!!!

I unfortunately do not have a dress yet; I haven't even gone shopping....I know, I know, I'm late, but I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment. I'm putting it off til next month.

I can see it!

Welcome to the board! We're basically the best board on TK, but I may be a little biased, haha. Feel free to join us on our facebook group, too. My FI and I LOVE Doctor Who as well! He's probably seen the entire series, but I started watching when we started dating and David Tenant was the doctor. I thought the end to the most recent season was very clever. Who would have thought that "Doctor Who" would be the question that must not be answered?

Where are you in your planning? What have you booked/what is left to accomplish?

This group is great but TK sucks big hairy donkey balls sometimes (did I mention hungry? yup, big and HUNGRY hairy donkey balls)

I love the idea of a casual outdoor BBQ in September. What have you checked off your list so far? I know the dress is a big commitment but if you want something custom, 6 months can be cutoff for ordering (not trying to freak you you - just don't want you to be disappointed!). I'd love to hear more about your wedding theme, colours, and all other details really ;P

OMG HAAAAAAAY! Lol sorry, I'm just so excited I can see AND access this thread! Ok, planning stuffs: we have our reception venue (a tent at a park), our caterer (an AMAZING local deli), and our officiant (my childhood rabbi) booked. We recently lost our ceremony space (loooong story) and we still don't have a photographer. We are getting a lot of help from friends and family! My mother, who is a trained pastry chef, is making our wedding cupcakes. A friend of mine who went to beauty school is doing day-of hair and makeup. An artist friend is helping with the DIY deco. FI's great aunt, a jeweler, is making our rings (my e-ring is a custom design by her). FI's uncle owns a printing company, so our invites are deeply discounted, and FI used to work for a florist, and they are helping us out too. Our colors are bright green, light blue and silver. We don't really have a theme, I think we are just going to carry our colors throughout. Our flowers are carnations. My father passed away 4 years ago, and growing up, whenever he brought flowers home for my mom, he always remembered to bring me some too, and they were always pink carnations. I do not care for the color pink much anymore, but I will be carrying pink carnations for my dad. I think that's most of it for now. The big things thag still need to be taken care of are photographer and my dress. Hopefully, by the end of April, I can cross them off the list!

Thanks for the warm welcome, gals! Yes, we have a wedding party. He has 5 attendants, I have 4. We've renamed everyone though - I have a Maid of Awesome, he has a Best Bro. His attendants are the Groom's Bros and mine are the Lady-Dudes. We're...kind of dorks LOL. One of FI's best friends is a girl, so she is going to wear the same dress as my bridal party, but in a different color. My side will wear green dresses, his guys will wear blue vests and bowties (because bowties are cool), so his female attendant's dress will be blue.

Welcome! Sounds like you have pretty talented/well-connect friends and family! I'd suggest that you start looking into bridesmaid dresses as well. Just so you have an idea because those can sometimes have a 5-6 month cut off as well. I enlisted my girls to email me pics of dresses they liked (mainly because I'm fashion-dense and didn't know what would look best on them) and I actually picked one of the dresses my MOH sent me so it was almost no work on my part! I highly recommend this!

the girls and I are actually going bridesmaid dress shopping on 3/24. I told them to peruse the DB website beforehand, think about what they like and don't like, and, by the end of the shopping day, come to a unanimous decision.

Aww man! I'm sorry, I am practically locked out of that thread. Even 2 days later, I still get a friggin' error message.

I live in northeastern Jersey, in what's considered the Lehigh Valley area (I actually work in PA). But alas, there are no DBs in my area, so I gotta truck up to Bergen county.
