I've been feeling pretty smug about mine... other than my one cousin that tried to bring a bunch of people and a couple of people who RSVPed and forgot to put their name on it, we were relatively drama free... until AFTER the RSVP deadline. So three things (so far)...
1) FI and his nephew (who's like 36 or something) had a quiet parting of ways over a business issue about a year ago. Nevertheless, we planned to invite him. But... FI's nephew never responded early on to our request for his address to send the invite. So, he didn't get one. Well... lo and behold, we look up and he just "proactively" RSVPs on our website. This isn't our RSVP method, and the only other one we received that way was when I tried to see if it would work. But ALL of our RSVPs have been through the mail (or by way of us tracking people down). In any case... I actually felt that this nephew should have been invited in the first place (his brother and mother are invited and he's one of the few in FI's large family that I actually know), but how you just gonna RSVP on your own? I guess it's better than just showing up that day.
2) FI's brother sends me a text asking if it's ok to bring their son. We have stated from the beginning "Adults Only" on our Save the Date, Website, etc. BUT... heck, they came all the way from Egypt. How could we say no? Although FI wants to (because he's afraid it opens the floodgates for other people to bring their kids), I told him it's ok...
3) My cousin, who I wasn't planning to invite (I was on the fence about her), bum-rushed me (yeah, I'm old, remember) at a family funeral about the wedding. I was inviting only three of my cousins because frankly, our family isn't all that close. Plus, she didn't invite me to HER wedding even though she kept trying to offer me her dress (um, no thanks). Anyway, she said at the funeral, "oh, I'll be looking for my invite in the mail." So ok... I add her and a +1 to the guest list. She RSVPs right away and doesn't tell me who her guest is until last night. Her +1 is a cousin that I REALLY didn't want to invite. He's just obnoxious. I don't have any personal issues with him, but he just talks too dang much and gets on people's nerves. People get this the first time they meet him... So... we're going to sit him with FI's boss
We have 19 days and 6 people left to hear from... Our expected 150 is looking like 140 (yay!)...
Oh, the countdown...
