Ohio Knottie needs some AZ photog advice!

Hi ladies! I am a former knottie from OH and my husband and I are visiting Phoenix/Scottsdale/Carefree/Sedona in two weeks. While we're out west, I wanted to have a portrait session with a photog to get some great pics of  us in the desert.

Can you all recommend some photogs? I've Google'd some already, but I am overwhelmed by all of the search results and figured you ladies would know best.

Also, I know in OH it is typical to receive a CD with all the edited images and a rights release form for free with the portrait session. I have been quoted by one AZ photog already that a CD with all images is $1,500! Is this typical? I almost had a heartattack when I saw that price...

    Hi there,

    From what I've experienced, you definitely have to pay for a cd with images. Most photographers make their money off of you ordering prints from them, but since things have changed and more and more brides are just looking for digital images to print however they choose, the photographers had to adjust their processes as well.

    As for recommendations - In Sedona, I HIGHLY recommend Jenni Goldman. She is our wedding photographer and did our engagement shoot of us and our 3 dogs and she is AMAZING.  www.jennigoldman.com and go to her blog

    Here in Phoenix, I highly recommend Shelly with Ivy Studios Photography.  She just shot a social event for me and did a fantastic job and she's really laid back and easy to work with.  http://www.ivystudiosphoto.com/

    Hi, I had photographs done of my niece with Wayne Bradt www.bradtphotography.com and it was MUCH MUCH less expensive than the quote you received. He also included a CD of the images. We also had our engagement pictures done with White Orchid photography http://whiteorchidphotography.org/ I cannot recommend White Orchid enough, they did amazing work and had unbelievable prices.     Check out Danielledaigle.com.  She's our photographer and she's great.  We actually just had our engagement session yesterday.  We were kinda nervous about it but it went really well and she made us feel so comfortable.  Also, her prices are very reasonable.

    John Nelson of Nelson's weddings (www.nelsonsweddings.com) is doing our wedding, and he's fantastic!  Our engagement session was $125 and lasted 45 minutes to an hour.  The CD with all our (high res) images was another $35.  John took great pictures and was a lot of fun, too.
