Cake serving set!

I DIY'd our toasting flutes, which I've already posted twice, but just as a refresher...

For the serving set, I was thinking something simple and silver-plated and having it engraved. I really have had a hard time finding this for some reason! They all have hearts or something on the handle, or have those clear plastic handles.

Inspiration and suggestions are much appreciated!

Re: Show me your

  • Is it bad that I don't even want a cake server set?! I mean, what do you do with it afterwards?! I just think its kind of silly but maybe this post will give me some inspiration :)

<div>I dont want one either! i was going to get a pie server from walmart or something! But now my MIL is buying it so w/e lol</div>
  • I was going to use my parents' cake knife because it seemed silly to buy one and then never use it again, but then I got to thinking that I wanted to have my own, but I plan to use mine to cut cakes with, and FI and I make a lot of cakes :)

  • I was planning not to get one, but my mom's friend gave me this as a shower gift.  I am not engraving it, and plan to use it whenever I need a cake serving set in the future.  :)

It is Oleg Cassini from BBB.

  • Is it weird to reuse it if it's engraved with wedding info?

  • We don't care, but do realize we will need something to cut the cake- So we got these for $6 from Ikea:

We have yet to decide on a set to use, or if we'll even be getting a cake set for sure. But my family still uses the set from my mom's wedding, and that was over 20yrs ago! Whenever we're having a B-day party or special event at my mom's house that involves cake or pie (Thanksgiving, X-Mas), it gets used. So a quite few times/year. Otherwise, it sits in the china cabinet in its box. I would use her set for my wedding, except I hated my mom's husband (now ex) and I don't want any connection at my own wedding... though we are using the same officiant...
  • This is one of the things I really wish my mom and dad had from their wedding. They did a very informal reception at their home and just got legally married, no special keepsakes.

  • I don't really care about ours either, haha.  They came with our toasting flutes I bought off etsy:

  • i found a plain stainless steel serving set from target.com for only $13.  i don't really care much for it either, but like PP said, we'll need something to cut the cake with.

i really like the one from ikea, i might look into that too  :)
  • My fiance is a big Star Wars fan so I made one concession to let him have something Star Wars related at our wedding and he chose the serving set. He found this link and made them himself, they actually look really good and even though they aren't really my style I love that they are very him. We even thought about making more and selling them on Etsy.
