Wedding Wednesday

Totally forgot it was Wednesday, haha.

We haven't done anything concrete. More music selections mostly. We want to have fun music so we're putting a lot of thought into the lists we're starting to compile.

His parents offered to contribute to the wedding. My parents are paying for mostly everything (both our parents are following the traditional who pays for whats). So we're going to use it pay off some smaller wedding expenses we had offered to pick up, like the DJ, our wedding rings, wedding party gifts, etc.

Monday we book our officiant so we're starting to think about how we want the ceremony to go. I think I've talked him into getting engagement pictures done YAY! But otherwise it's been a slow wedding week. I feel like we have the big things checked off and I don't want to start working on too many of the details now because I feel like it's still too early.

We are getting all our props/outfits ready for our E-pics this Sunday. We are also waiting to hear back from a couple musicians for our ceremony/cocktail hour. Other then that FI and I figured we'd take it easy during summer and get back to wedding planning in fall.

I finished my save the date sign in time for our engagement pictures this past weekend!! I should have posted it on Monday, but I forgot to take a picture of it, so I'll post it here. Don't mind the dog in the background, he wouldn't get out of the frame when I was trying to get a picture last night. I plan on removing all of the letters and using the date portion somehow as a wedding decoration.

I also asked two of my sisters and one of my friends to be bridesmaids this past weekend. I still have one more sister to ask, one more friend, and my fiance and I are going to jointly ask my little brother to be a groomsman.

We are doing a tasting with our prosepctive caterer this weekend and trying our first cake place. Its seems like in Cincinnati everything books up so quickly. I feel like I am doing things way too early, but since I am on a pretty tight budget, I want to make sure I get everything I want before someone else gets the date.

Other than that, we have pretty much everything else big booked. We aren't getting our E-Pics until September, and I am super jealous that some of you already have yours done.

We got our contract for the venue yesterday and aren't happy. The whole thing is about how they have the right to cancel, all the ways we can lose our deposit, and how they can change the prices on us until up to 3 months before. There was nothing about what we were getting, food, DJ, ceremony, anything. It was awful, and we're looking into another venue. If you're unhappy with that contract either go contest it or pull out while you can still salvage your deposit. Our venue was on the precipice of a price increase when we wrote up our contract with them and I think I asked a hundred times about us not being subject to the price change after we signed. It was $1000 increase which seemed unreasonable to me since we'd discussed the old prices. She locked us in regardless of future changes and that sold me.

That winery has awesome banquet hall options! Get your money back from the crazies and go book that totally cool winery instead!

I have gotten absolutely nothing done this week. I feel like I'm falling behind. I need to start making some appointments with florists to get an idea of prices before I get my heart set on something we can't afford. Blfergurson that place looks amazing!

mrskaiser22- those dresses look really cute! I am actually looking for something just like that.

emilyb213- I really like your STD sign. That is going to look and work out great

blferguson- good luck with your venue. I would talk to them and try to get them to include what info you need in your contract. They don't need to re-write their contract for everyone what you need it to include the information that is important to you.

This week I got/ordered my dress!! I am really excitied and kinda nervous at the same time. I am already worried that it could come out wrong. The sales consultant seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and I made her go get help. I am still working on getting an example of what we want our invitations/STD's to look like and we will go for a cake tasting this Saturday. Next up is to book some appointments with florist.

I really just want to get all the vendors booked. Then I can start working on the DIY projects!!

I completely missed this yesterday! I love what everyone has been doing! I have sort of put a hold on major wedding planning because my best friend is getting married June 1st and I've been super busy helping her out. We surprised her last weekend with a bridal party dinner and night out (she thought I had planned a party for myself with my own bridal party 13 months before my wedding haha). She was so surprised she actually hit me when we walked in and she saw her bridal party and not mine. I can't believe she actually thought I would plan a party for myself 2 weeks before her wedding!

We haven't sent them any money yet. They mailed us the contract, and we're supposed to sign it and mail it back with the deposit check. I'm thinking that might not happen now. I'm becoming slightly obsessed with the winery so that might be our place unless I discover something better!
