What was your favorite part of your wedding? My favorite part of the day was probably our first look and then the ceremony because it was the only part of the day that was really about us(not to sound like a me me me person). Getting ready with my bridesmaids was a blast too though.
The reception wasn't overly fun for me because I had been coming down with a cold and it finally hit that night.
Anything you would do differently? Honestly, probably eloped. I kind of let my family persuade me into the big wedding and it was really a great day. But, I think it would have been just as great on a much smaller scale.
If you could travel to one place in the world, where would it be and why? This is a tough one. I've never been much of a travelier....so for my first big trip, I'd really love to road trip up the east coast of the U.S.
Have you gotten used to calling your husband, "husband" yet? I've definitely gotten used to that part of being married. The part I really can't get used to is signing my new last name, or filling out a form with it. lol...I generally have to fill things out a second time.
Do you have any pets? Is yes, please post pictures! I do!! I'm a crazy dog mom...lol so I'll show many pictures. Maggie is riding my dress train in my siggy pic.
Buddy at our engagement pictures posing for the camera...Maggie in the background wanting nothing to do with pictures that day.
Maggie sitting pretty for the love of her life....CHEESE!
Maggie participating in DIY time with some ear bows.
I'm a medical transcriptionist (from home-which I love.)
What would be your dream job?
Event planner....I really miss wedding planning and I think it would be a lot of fun to help others out.
Are you going to make any big plans for the one-year anniversary? I think we're actually going to try to do something big. We didn't do a honeymoon because of hectic school and work schedules, so I think for our one-year we're going to get away for a week to finally relax a little.
What do you do with your spare time (especially since you're not wedding planning)? I really love to read. I just got an iPad for Christmas and I love the gagillion reader apps on there. So lately I've been glued to books. And obviously I'm a crazy dog mom, I do a lot with them, walks, trips to the pet store and so on. Overall, I'm pretty lame.
What is your favorite part of winter? I love waking up to fresh untouched snow. And I really do love the cold. I'm not a summer person at alll.
What are some of your pet peeves? Lately it's been the "When are you having a baby?" question. lol....can't I just have a little time to recover from the wedding??
I love the puppy pictures that made my day Awww!! They're glad they could make someone's day!
1. Did you DIY a lot for the wedding? Any ideas turn out better than you thought? Any DIY you wish you wouldn't have done? Well...I thought I would be a major DIYer, but it turns out I'm NOT crafty at all. However, I did love the more personal touches to weddings. So I bought most of my stuff off of etsy. lol and other people did it a lot better than I ever could.
Things I did have decent luck doing myself were my paper things like placecards and table numbers. I also halfway did my invites and programs. I bought the BRIDES kits and assembled them. I had bought the supplies to completely DIY my invites, but when we bumped our date up from New Years Eve to October 8th. I didn't have the time or patience anymore.
The one thing I shouldn't have done, and just bought was the cool hoodies with the name on the back. I made mine and it just turned out really pathetic.
Mediocre stuff that I did myself...
The hoodie that I shouldn't have done
Coloring books
Table Number & placecard
Stuff I bought from etsy that I loved: Dress tag..
Ring Bearer Dish
Sign Bearer Signs
Instead of a guestbook, we did a prediction/winebox thing

2. What was your favorite registry item? Top 3 favorite things:
1. Toaster oven.....using way more than I ever thought we would
2. Knives...def. recommend registering for a nice set, I wasn't sure if we should, but I'm glad we did.
3. K-Cup coffee pot.....we both like different kinds of coffee so this works great
3. Do you like to cook and/or bake? What is your favorite recipe?
I do love to do both. Cooking more than baking though. I have tooo many favorites. This is something I baked this weekend. It was super easy but ohhhh sooo yummy.
I love your cake topper! Who made it? Any details about the day of your wedding day you would change (like colors, venue, etc)? If so, what? Any advice for brides to be?
Our Bio
July 2012 November Siggy: Bridesmaid Dresses!
Any details about the day of your wedding day you would change (like colors, venue, etc)? If so, what? We planned the October wedding date in less than 5 months(our original date was 12/31/10), so there were a lot of things that I just made quick decisions on. I definitely would have been more elaborate with the color scheme. But at that point in time, eggplant, black and white was just really easy. Other than that, I was satisfied with everything else. Overall though, I probably would have done things on a much smaller if I could do it again.
Any advice for brides to be? Don't take planning too seriously. There are so many great vendors and resources out there, that if one thing doesn't pan out something else will. I know it's a big day, but remember there will be a lot of other days after it, so treat people like you always have. Remember that before anything else, your bridal party are your friends. It's so easy to think they should be doing things for you, but they have lives too. If something goes wrong, it can be fixed. Just laugh and look at it as an adventure. My biggest piece of advice is stay calm on your wedding day. It'll make everything so much sweeter if you aren't worrying about everything that is being done around you. We briefly lost the rings right before the ceremony, and while everyone was running around freaking out, I honestly laughed and told them it would be okay. And what do you know, 10 minutes later they were found. So stay calm, have fun and smile and your day will be perfect!
Yay for pictures! Thanks for posting Can you tell I love pictures in post?? lol.
How did you meet your husband? We met on a dating website. We talked for a long time before we actually met up in person. After that though, we were inseperable.
What is the number one thing about him that drives you nuts? What do you do that drives him crazy? The number one thing that drives me crazy is probably the way he drives. He thinks he's an awesome driver(like most men), but everytime I get in the car with him it feels like I'm going on a death roller coaster ride.
The thing that probably drives him crazy is how clumsy I am. I'm always dropping or breaking something or running into something. He's always sweet about it, lol but I know it makes him crazy.
Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Dearborn.
Are you happy you did the "first look" prior to your ceremony?? I really like the idea It's your first knot post!! Welcome!! Hope you find these boards as helpful and informative as I did!
I'm so happy we did the first look. I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was really nice to spend 45 minutes having fun taking pictures and video. It was really the only time it was just us that day. I'm also glad we did it because after the ceremony we were just done taking pictures and stuff. We would have gotten zero pictures of us if we would have waited and not did the first look. So it really worked out great. I highly recommend it!
When are you having kids? J/K... LOL...it's not so bad coming from people that aren't family.
Seriously, How do you like the e-readers on the ipad? I am contemplating getting one (e-reader) and would like peoples advice. Ilove love love the e-readers on the iPad because you can pick which ones you wanna use and it has a bigger screen than a kindle or nook. I really like the Kindle app. There are also a few free book apps that have classics. I've enjoyed looking through that too. I really like the iPad in general though. I thought it would be pointless because I have an iPhone, but it's like a gagillion times better. I love listening to music and reading and watching tv shows and movies(netflix) on it. If your looking for an ereader with a kick, iPad is it.
What was your reasoning for moving up the date? A few things. We got a lot of crap for the New Years Eve date. We live in Dearborn and about half of our guestlist was from the Eastside, so they bitched about the potential snow. The thing that tipped the scales was my dad's crazy family(that I can't stand) trying override certain decisions I had made like who would walk me down the aisle (because my dad is passed). So it was starting to turn into exactly what I didn't want...a stressful, not fun day of dealing with them. So I pretty much changed the date and didn't tell my dad's family. And haven't really talked to them since. In hindsight, I'm glad they were assholes, because New Years Eve was like 50 and rainy this year and we would have gotten zero outdoor pictures. I guess everything really does happen for a reason.
Now that planning is over, what are you doing with all your free time? LoL....try to convince my friends and family to get engaged so I can help plan their weddings. Other than that, I've picked up a ton more work since the wedding because I'm bored as heck.
