Credit card for wedding expenses?

Hi, all! So I am looking into using a credit card to charge a lot of my wedding-related expenses so I can gain a lot of points or miles or whatever to use for our honeymoon. I hate debt, so I plan to pay it off immediately. I figured rather than writing a bunch of checks, I can open a card that would work to our advantage!! Has anyone done this? I am thinking maybe a Marriott-affiliated card? Or one offered by an airline that services where we plan to take our honeymoon? Open to suggestions. Thanks!

I've been using my Chase credit card for as many wedding purposes as possible...most big ticket vendors (DJ, venue, photographer) dont accept credit cards though, so i had to write them checks...but i bought favors, attire, etc with my credit card for money back reward. The key is really just paying everything in full, so you dont get stuck with high interest rates.

We got an interest free (21 months) card so we can keep our money earning interest for as long as possible. But honestly there were only a few vendors that would accept cc. Most want cash.

Thanks all for the tips! Definitely intend to pay everything as it comes in - we have a lot saved, but plan to save even more as we get closer to the big day. Our tentative reception venue will accept CC for both the first deposits (totalling 6k) so I thought that would be worth it, even if that's all the bigger stuff we can charge. I'll look around, but if anyone has any specific card recommendations, I'd love to hear them!

I use Chase Sapphire Preferred. They had (or might still have) a deal for 50k sign on pts which equates to either $500 worth of gift cards (to a bunch of places) or $600 towards any travel expenses that you book through their pts program called Chase Ulitimate Rewards. It's a pretty awesome card. No annual fee for the first year then after that I think it's like $65...but I plan on "downgrading" the credit card to a no fee one after the one year period expires.

My parents got a British Airways card which had a 100,000 miles bonus if you spent $3000 in 3 months.

As other girls said many of my vendors did not accept CC. We paid for my alterations, along with my sisters, and my mom's custom gown on the CC, which totaled $1500 I think.

We also paid for the limo, some accessories, other small items.

All the big ticket items were cash or credit sadly.

I live in London so they used the credit to fly to my second reception in Oct which was in my H's home town.

Do a google search for something like "best credit card deals". They change their deals frequently. I needed a new credit card, so I signed up with Chase Visa Southwest card. They offered me 2 free round trip plane tickets on Southwest. Score!

We are basically paying for our hawaiian honey moon with points we accumulated from using credit cards for wedding expenses. Our wedding is at a Hyatt, so both my fiance and I opened a chase hyatt card which gave each of use 2 free nights at any category hotel. We also charged all of our catering expenses to the card, so teh point we accumulated got us 8 free nights at Hyatts and Hawaii. We also paid for our flights with delta sky miles points from our delta amex.
