If you have an idea, please post it...

Once the first idea is posted, please let that be the only one for the day...I would hate for it to be like 6 different ideas...

OK I think only the older knotties will remember this but I dislike with a passion my FSIL. She annoys me to no end. We are totally incompatible personality-wise and I find her dull. But hey no big issue since I only see her once a year (she lives in Switzerland). My problem comes in that she is not coming to our wedding. She had ample time to plan a trip, save money, figure out a plan etc., (18 months) but no she can't come because it would be a financial burden and she would have to come without her husband. WHAT?! This chick who was here in August told us well they only come to the states every other year and since they were here now (August 09) they couldnt come for our wedding. HUH!?!? OK you knew were getting married in 2010 why not postpone your trip until then? Why because she didn't want to come without her husband who teaches at university and would not have been able to get time off in April. So yeah she is not coming to her only other sibling her baby brother's first marriage. He's managed to come for BOTH of hers but whatever. Apparently this isnt important enough for her to make some sacrifices.

In laws : Love them !!

Fi's parents arent together, but I still love them both.

FMIL is the best, she speaks her mind and is so upfront. But in a good way. She is the best shopping partner ever. She knows where all the deals are from state to state. And I mean literally from state to state. She will kidnap you. So be sure to have no other plans for the day. Because you might end up in the mountains of Ny shopping. (That was our recent adventure)

FFIL: Doesnt speak a lot, but when he does its truth and its hilarious. He is a skip the story, just tell me what you want type of guy. He is sweet and kind. And when you can catch him, he is fun to hang around.

I can honestly see why I cant keep my fi still. But I never have to buy a gps as long as he is around. lol

edit:: And his sisters are great ! We all hang out. One of them is even my hair dresser. I told fi in the beginning that if we ever broke up, I would never break up with his sisters. He got a little mad because they agreed. lol

Off she sounds pretty selfish. My brother is an on again off again jail bird. But whether it will be jail house or church, I wouldnt miss my baby brothers wedding. You work it out and you get to where ever for family. She sounds like just a bunch os excuses. :-(

LOVE both FMIL and FFIL...they arent together anymore either.

FFIL actually lives in Kansas. We try to make it out there as much as we can and vice versa. I wanna surprise him with a visit for his birthday in April so we will see if we are able to pull it off.

I have always gotten along with both of them...THANK GOODNESS! I dont know what I would do if we didnt.

I have actually clicked well with all of his family...brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.

One area which I fortunately do not have to worry about...

Off, I remember this story. I can't believe that she couldn't make some kind of arrangement. That's pretty selfish. How is your FI dealing with this?

As far as my in laws, I get along with them pretty well so far. I really like his mom. She's very motherly. I didn't grow up with a mom like that, so it's kinda cool to have a mom like that now. My mom was kinda the hip cool mom, which is fine, but it's nice to have the more motherly type too, so I feel like I have the best of both worlds. His dad is cool too. But sometimes, I cannot understand him when he speaks. He talks really fast and he has this really..well.. different accent, so it's hard to understand him at times, but he's cool. I like him a lot. My FSIL is really cool. She's actually in my wedding. I do worry that our personalities will clash at some point in the future, because sometimes she is so opinionated and blunt, and I'm not like that at all. I'm the type that tries to carefully choose my words so as not to hurt anyone's feelings. But so far so good.

FI seems to be ok with it, but he is a lot more understanding and tolerant than I am. I guess I will just have to carry this grudge alone

His parents are great. Neither of them blinked when Alex brought me over for the first time. They have been very warm and welcoming. FMIL is nice, helpful and most importantly doesn't interfere with our relationship. And I love his stepfather. He's funny, sarcastic, and smart everything I love in a person. His grandfather happens to be a boob guy so he loved me from the first moment he saw me in a tank top. Before we even got engaged he asked FI when was he going to propose!

I really love my FMIL and FFIL. They are still together and we went to stay with them for five days last Christmas. His mom is very nurturing and loves to take care of us, so I was all over that! LOL His dad is extremely smart, interesting and loves to talk about anything from politics to sports to movies, etc. I love having conversations with him, I always learn something new.

My FSIL is cool also - she has been very welcoming and I think she was happy with me as soon as she saw that her two kids loved me to death. So I'm very blessed to be marrying into my FI's family!!

LMAO about your man's grandfather OFF....

I'm having a hard time getting accostomed to my FILs.

FMIL is a nice woman, but shes not very respectful for my AA culture and tries to convert me whenever she has the chance. Shes sweet and great to hang out with on family night, but if it ain't Indian, it ain't right. I feel like me and my family are making much more of an effort to conform than she is. For example, she told me her family wouldn't eat soul food even before she knew what it was. Whenever the cousins and I get together, she makes me wear traditional Indian clothing and they all get to wear jeans! I think she's harder on me because I'm not Indian and it drives me crazy!

FFIL is great. He's totally Americanized, loves to drink and laugh and hang out. He has always wanted a daughter (he has 2 boys) and now he can spoil me. My dad is usually MIA so it works out great to have that father figure. My only issue with him is he does NOT listen, you can say somehting and he'll say, "No", and then repeat exactly what you just said like he thought of it... kinda funny when you're NOT the person in the coversation with him.... LOL

hmmm, FI has his birth mom and 'step'mom from foster care. He is still close to both, but closer to step.

I HEART step - she is a firecracker from Louisiana, great cook, very sweet (she had FI and a brother when they were younger) and now has 4 bros/sis that she adopted. She rocks. She is my FMIL; that other one - I could do w/o.

She rubbed me the wrong way early on. @ FI's daughter's 1st bday she started this big discussion about him and the mom needing to stop messing around and get back together (I wasn't there). She also always comments on my weight: either ooo, you look like you're losing or ohhh, you gaining a little weight, huh. Shut up B! I always want to say you're still fat. sorry. that was ugly.

OFF- Your FSIL is horrible. Glad to hear FI is okay with it, and you, girl, let go of the grudge..sometime before the wedding. You can pick it up during her bi-annual trip to the states:)

KSturgis- Your FMIL sounds like my type of woman..did she take you to Woodbury Commons? That outlet is fabulous!!!!

My FMIL is an okay person when she is not having an episode. She has recently exhibited symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia...calling the cops multiple times saying someone is trying to break in, and most recently, said FBIL's friends placed some type of scent on her car that attracted the deer that jumped in front of the car and totaled it. No person was hurt in the accidentt. So, she is not currently having a moment...let's hope it stays that way through the wedding..birth of grandchildren..etc!

FSIL is cool. No problems. My sisters are not crazy about her.
FBIL is 17 and ready to leave for college when he graduates in HS in May. No probs.
FFIL. Don't know him, met him once, FI and he are "working" on developing a relationship.

She always has to be center of attention. but to be nice lol i'm just going to leave things at that. let's just say that we are to the point were we probably wont even talk anymore because she is just so disrespectful!
