An Introduction & Question Regarding RHH

Hello all-
My name is Sarah and my fiancee's name is Broderick.  We are Orange County natives, currently living in Orange County.  We got engaged up @ Minnewaska on June 25th 2010.  We just started planning; feeling pretty overwhelmed and exited!  We actually checked out a venue today (briefly because a wedding was about to begin,) which brings me to the second part of this post.  I've lurked around the past week on the boards getting venue ideas, which I must say was very helpful on here.  We decided to check out FEAST at Round Hill.  We really love the location (very close to home, and gorgeous.)  We plan on attending a tasting this month.
Here are my questions w/ regard to this venue (concerning the cocktail hour)-
1. Has anyone been to a wedding here, and could detail the cocktail hour? Were the hors d'oeuvers unlimited, or did they run out during the cocktail hour?  In other words, were 8 passed hors d'oeurves enough for a group of 100-125?
2.  Has anyone added a "station" during the cocktail hour?  How was that?

Tomorrow we'll be checking out the Plumbush Inn & The Dutchess Manor. Any word on Plumbush?  I've read a lot about the DM, but nothing on the Plumbush Inn.

Thanks & sorry for the crazy length of this post!

    Welcome!

My friend got married at the Plumbush Inn about 10 years ago...I can tell you that she had a very small wedding (maybe 30) but it was very nice and the food was good.

I went to a wedding at Plumbush in October.  It was beautiful and the food was delcious.  The coctail hour was fairly small, but that could have been the packages she picked.

Congrats on your engagement and (almost) finding a venue!

My sister had her wedding at Dutchess Manor and it was really nice. I didn't look at Round Hill, so I can't comment. I looked into Plumbush when we were looking, but I think I viewed it as too small. (And we had about the same number of people as you)

However, as far as the passed h'or deorves - The eight items means eight things will be be passed during your cocktail hour. The catering hall shouldn't run out. If they start with item #1, they will pass all the items. item 2, item 3, etc until item 8. And then they will start over with item one. Your guests will have eight items offered during cocktail hour. Instead of 10, or 12. Etc.

And in answer to your question, the eight items will be ok!

hey sarah welcome! i'm also an orange county native and live not far from the RHH. I've never been to a wedding there though.
My friend got married at the Duchess Manor this past March and it was really nice, food was good and the view and place were beautiful!!  Depending on how many guests you are having the room could be too small, she had like 170 or so and it was really really tight in my opinion.

ssage & jamiefour - Thanks for the welcome!  We drove by the Plumbush Inn tonight, and thought that the exterior section of the property looked SO small.  It doesn't look like you could fit many people outside for an outdoor ceremony.

ktwed09 - Please, please let me know how the wedding goes!  Details, girl!  I would be forever in your debt! We're planning on going to a tasting this month.  I can't wait!

Terri&Joe - The view @ Dutchess looks spectacular.  It was closed tonight, so we just checked out what we could from the exterior.  I think we'll check it out further.

Chrisnjay2010 - Hey!  We are Goshen natives, you?  We're planning on 100-125 people, and I definitely don't want anyone to feel cramped.  We went to a wedding down South over the winter, during which I felt like a sardine!
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get married?  In OC?

Thanks to everyone, I'm loving this board thus far!

hey! we are neighbors, i grew up and now own a home in Campbell Hall! I think that number would do well in Duchess Manor. We got married at the Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls.

Dutchess Manor has two rooms - The pp's friend was probably in the smaller room.(That's the one we looked at)

My sister had 182 in the large room and had to meet a minimum of 175 for it. It wasn't cramped. But 170 in the small room would be tight.

But the smaller room for 100-125 guests would be perfect!

And it looks SO MUCH better now that they renovated! Good luck! Dean is really nice.

Also, they have a very cool timing system - IF they have 3 weddings on a saturday - One starting at 12ish, one at 3 ish and one at 6ish. So, you never clash with another wedding.

    GL!

I got married at The Round Hill House last summer (can't believe it). Everything was fantastic! There was more than enough food during the cocktail hour. I did have one station as well as the passed items. I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have.

    Congratulations and have fun planning!

Hey!  Congratulations!  How many stations did you have?  Did it end up adding $$$$ per head?  Some of the station prices could really add up.

I couldn't make up my mind between the Garden and Tuscan Stations so they made me a combo station. I did get one station free with my origianl package price. They also gave me the cordial station for free. I paid for the minature sweet station which was a big hit. They also packed up everything that was left for me. We had mini raspberry cheesecake for a week!
