Workout Accountability: Tuesday

Good morning!

I wasn't feeling too well after work yesterday, so I skipped my run.  I felt better after I rested a bit at home, so then I did a 50 minute kick-boxing dvd.  Tonight I'll lift and run about 3 miles.

How did everyone else do?

  • Jude - I hope you are feeling better!

I went to spin class this morning! I wish my gym offered more than 2 classes before 6am because I really am not a huge fan of the Tuesday morning instructor. The music, as I've mentioned before, it's just awful. But whatever, I did it. Day off tomorrow because I will be at FI's ltonight.

  • I hope you feel better today jude!

Maribeth, awful music again?  That stinks.  I actually made a video of the awful music at my gym and showed my friends... they couldn't believe it.

Last night I ran a three miler.  I didn't have much time so I pushed myself and managed about an average of 8:03.  I don't remember the last time I could run that.  I miss my high school lacrosse days of my 6:36-7:20s.  Tonight I am hoping to just do some light weights at home.  I have errands to run and skyping to do so that's all I can fit in!
  • Good job ladies!

    Jude-stay well & rest up :)

Maribeth- sorry about the bad music... maybe some of you guys could gently suggest doing an all-request class next month?  Everyone suggest a song they'd like to hear and maybe she can change it up a bit?

Lbarr- great run!  Nice pace :)

I did a one mile warm-up, then lifted weights, then did a hard 2 miles this morning.  Buuuut then I got a latte on my way to work :(  I usually drink plain back coffee but I had a taste for something sweet.  Oh well, I'll just do spin class tomorrow!
  • Yesterday I had an early flight so missed my spin class. Had a great weekend (minus buff wings fest Sun) though! Today, just an arm/shoulder lift, and tomorrow back to my spin class.

@Maribeth I'm sorry the songs stink :( That's the worst. I like Medicapril's suggestion of trying to get an all-request class going.

Monday... I needed to "scale" my workout yesterday.  I could only clean 115#s not the prescribed 135#.  It FELT like a major defeat and I was really REALLY down on myself last night for my failure to perform.  But the FH was super great about reminding me of the accomplishments and gains in my strength and skills over the last year so I feel a little better today.

Tuesday... today will suck.  I mean MASSIVELY suck:

Warm up row 5 min at 2:05 per 500m pace

Work  up  to Max power clean

    Rest 5 min

    THEN "The Triplet”

In this workout you will be given 3 couplets.

Each couplet is for Time.  There is a 7 Minute Time Limit for each WOD. If WOD is not finished score is determined by # of Reps.  There is a 1 minute Rest between each WOD.

WOD 1 - 3 Rounds of the following 2 exercises:

    ·         30 Double Unders

    ·         20 KB Swings M24Kg/W16Kg

WOD 2 - 3 Rounds of the following 2 exercises:

    ·         30 Air Squats

    ·         20 Box Jumps M24”/W20”

WOD 3 3 Rounds of the following 2 exercises:

    ·         10 Calorie Row

    ·         40 Wall Ball Shots M#20/W#12

Cool down row 5 mn at 2:05

I got in 75 minutes of cardio on my bike and some mild weight lifting last night

Hitting the gym tonight - timing may stink a little because a friend is stopping by to pick something up RIGHT in the middle of when I would normally be at the gym, so I'm going to have to push my workout to later in the evening.

  • FI and I started week two of going to the gym and eating right. Last week we were at the gym 5 days. If FI had his way it would be 7 -- am I wrong to tell him we can't go every day? The days we don't go we walk up and down the ridiculous hill we live on.

Last night was a good night - went 30 min straight on the elliptical and did a little over 2.25 miles (I look at everyone else's numbers and this looks pretty bad, but it's a really big win for me); fiance did 3.75 miles.

FI went for a toaster streudel for dessert last night and I talked him out of it, which he thanked me for later.  This morning he got out of bed and looked way thinner than he has in a long time...I wish I could see that much progress on me that quickly!

Tonight it's ballroom dancing and then the gym again -- goal is 2.5 miles tonight!

</div><div>LOL so true... I hate this!!  My FI is a weightlifter and has to make weight class.  He can sit 5-10lbs over weight class, clean up his eating a little bit for 2 weeks prior to competition, and drops all the weight to come in under weight!!!  It's insane... oh to be a dude!</div>

  • I'm going to Zumba at 5:30 tonight. Then I'll do some strength training afterwards! I need to get some new shoes today. I went to Kohl's and Famous Footwear yesterday. They had a really crappy selection of cross-training shoes. I guess I'll be going to DSW and maybe Footlocker. Any suggestions?

  • I got new running shoes at Modell's this weekend, that I tried out o n my treadmill this morning for my 30 min walk.  Going to try to walk 30 minutes on my treadmill in the morning, just to jump start the metabolism!  Doing my body works class tonight, body toning.  Maybe a run too, I dont want to push the knee.
Men always lose more weight faster, it's hard to deal with because I'm so competitive!!  I got a head start on my FI though, and he's not as serious as I am about it.  Is anyone else doing the fab ab february from pinterest?  I do mine twice a day =)  Planks are getting tougher and tougher.

  • The nights where I close at work, are light workout days, because I dont know how long I will be at work for. I am on my feet the entire time at work, so if I do a really hard workout before I close my legs are jelly the whole night. So today was a light workout day, I did 30 minutes/ 3.15 miles on the elliptical. I did all my ab machines, and a couple glute machines. This is a huge win for me, as I used to never workout on days I had to work late!

  • zOMG, abigail, your e-pic is SO sweet!! :)

As promised, I ran sprints (interval training) for 30 minutes, cross trainer for 30 minutes, then hot yoga for an hour yesterday.  I'm sore as a mofo today.

I'm hoping I can at least walk for an hour... Otherwise, maybe I'll do the elliptical or something.  I broke down and had a bagel for lunch (cuz it was free).  Stupid 450 calories!!!
  • Nice work ladies!

Kimberly - you are right, you definitely do not need to be at the gym 7 days/week.  Your body needs a rest day!

I went to a strength class and ran three miles this morning!
  • I did C25K for the third time last night, and it was SO much easier than the last two times I did it! I was able to push myself through all of the running segments and not slow down when I wanted to. Actually felt like I could have done one or two more intervals!

I think this may be in part because I sipped a little bit of water after the running segments every time - but just a little bit of water because I didn't want to get a stomach cramp! The last two times I didn't have water until after the 30 minutes because I was outside and didn't want to carry a big water bottle with me...

But I'm also telling myself it was easier because I'm getting better.. haha! Excited to start week 2 tomorrow :)

  • C25k is the BEST!  It's really cool once you hit the first 20 minute interval... you'll be amazed that you can do it! :)  Okay, maybe that was just me :)

Today was frusting--the Zumba class that I picked on the Kinect was awful, so stopped about 20 minutes in. Then, I tried my Biggest Loser for the Kinect game. That sucked, so I stopped. THEN, Ripped in 30 wasn't loading on Amazon Instant Video, so I just said EFF IT, I'M NOT STOPPING and timed myself doing the Ri30 intervals. I was surprised I remembered all the ciruicts, but I did it. I really hope I can do a good Zumba class tomorrow & have my video work so I can move to Week Two on Ri30.

Good job today everyone! I think I may be catching the running bug . . .

ETA: Sorry, this is a major whine. Thanks for letting me vent!

  • I've been reading through the various posts on this message board for a little over a week now and I love the sense of community on here! I'm new to the group, but definitely feel like this may provide the kind of accountability I'm looking for to stay on track.  I'm set to be married in a little over two months (at 7am no less... I know. Crazy!) and have been trying so hard to stay focused on my health and wellness plan despite planning a wedding, moving, and finishing my dissertation research! It's hard at times to stay focused and go to the gym when I feel like I need to be chained to my desk and continue writing. :-(

However, yesterday I swam for two hours doing various interval workouts (sprint/recovery; long slow distance) and was reminded of just how much I love to swim. Today I ran 2.5 miles, but I felt soooooooooo sluggish. I don't know what it was. I'm supposed to train tonight at my gym with my fiancee and we'll see how that goes.

Have a great rest of the day ladies!

  • I'm new to the boards as well.  But this looks like a great place to keep posting!  Today I did 30 min on the elliptical, 10 minute cool down on the track, and 25 min of abs/legs

  • Did abs and 25 minutes on the elliptical.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
