I'm feeling kind of crappy. I got an email from my boss over the weekend asking if I could come in early today to meet with him. We've been having some staff issues because we have a new employee so we were rearranging some duties plus a co-worker had a freak out and said she needed more money and less work (which everyone in the office somehow knows). Well anyway my boss said he wanted my ideas on some changes before announcing them.

So I drag myself in early even though I am feeling kind of sick, and he does ask for my advice and I give him some good feedback (he kept saying that one of my suggestions was such a great idea). Great, right?

Well with the new employee coming on I was supposed to give her a part of my job that I really don't like and instead I would have more time to do some more interesting and strategic parts on my job. So then he tells me that he doesn't think giving the new person part of my job will work because then she will be too busy. Argh I was so looking forward to my job not sucking! I got pretty upset, but I don't show it by freaking out at him because that's not me. I just told him I would think about it.

Now I suggested that we give the new person a different part of my job instead which wouldn't be as much of a relief but would be something. If I don't give up something I'll go crazy from overwork (I say as I type away on the knot). He thinks that might work but now I'm not counting on it because I'm afraid he's going to change his mind again.

I work at a university and I get basically free tuition (I only have to pay a bunch of taxes on it) and I'll be finished with my MBA in June so I am just trying to stick it out until then, but it's hard when I really dislike parts of my job.

Sorry this is really long and I turned this into vent Monday!
