Reception end time??

Hey ladies! I am planning on getting married next February (I'm ahead of myself, I know) but I think I already found a place! My FI and I went to check out the Fern Forest Nature Center in Pompano and the price is very reasonable as we are on a super tight budget, which is part of the reason for the year long wait. The only catch is events must be over by 11pm which includes cleanup, which means the reception would need to end at 10pm (ceremony from 4-5, reception from 6-10). Do you think that is too early for a Saturday wedding? I'd really like the reception to last until 12 or later but I cannot find a reasonable enough venue. Advice?

Re: Reception end time??

  • Broward County ordinance is why the times are the way they are. If you are looking to have it last until 12 or later, I would suggest a hotel. It depends on your budget for the hotel, I understand that, but Broward County noise ordinance is 10pm. So unless its an indoor type thing, you will run into that 10pm deadline... HTH
  • Can you change the ceremony time earlier? Then you could have a longer reception. I don't think a 4 hour reception is bad. Maybe you could find a place for the party to continue for the guests who want to? btw I love Fern Forest it's very pretty!

  • Ours ending 11 an we're at a hotel on the beach for me that's plenty of time ... A recent wedding I went to ended at 11 as well I don't think 10 is to earlh but as others said maybe start it earlier.
  • Thanks for the advice! I guess we could start the reception at 5 instead of 6. Maybe I can have people go back to my place afterwards. The reception is indoors but they close at 11pm and don't allow you to come back the next day an cleanup (which would really help!) Thanks again!
  • I'd do a 5pm ceremony.. That should give you plenty of time! :)

    Welcome and congrats!
