Gift Registry Advice

Hello Ladies!

I wanted to get your input on gift registry...how many places did you register for?  How did you decide where to register? Was it based on convenience, price, style, etc. I was originally going to register at Crate and Barrel, Target and Williams Sonoma because those are places I like and it fits our style but my Mom thinks I should add another more affordable location like Macys or Bed Bath and Beyond which I don't mind doing but I think it may look bad if I have 4 different registries.  I was also looking at myregistry.com to just add a few items from Macys and Bed Bath and Beyond.  Has anybody used myregistry.com?
Any advice or comments are much appreciated! Smile

I don't suggest Target.  On the Registry and Gifts board, people often complain of their return policy.  If you want to do an online only registry to include multiple stores then I suggest Amazon.  My friend had an Amazon registry and it was very user friendly.  You could put things from multiple stores (all the ones you've mentioned above) and if your guests preferred to purchase the gift in-store they could mark it off as "reserved" so other guests didn't buy the same gift.

We did BBB and Macys.  Macys had this great program where if you signed up for the cc you got 10% back of everything that was bought iin a gift card...a month after the wedding we got a gift card for about $300!

oh, I have more than 4! But I don't have them all listed, but if they offer a completion discount, I have one :)

I haven't used myregistry but I am using www.uponourstar.com as one of ours- it works as a universal registry and we wanted to put tools, furniture, etc on one - so this fit the bill perfectly.  We are still about a month out- but so far, so good!

I recommend Bed Bath & Beyond instead of Target. BBB has better return policy and is affordable. In total we did 3 I think. 2 were what we consider affordable and the other in between. I think it depends on your family and you know them best. I know most of my family can't afford expensive taste and we barely can here and there. That's why we decided to do more affordable stores.

We did Crate and Barrel, because we like their stuff, and Bed Bath and Beyond, because it's more affordable and available in smaller cities where some of our guests were from. C&B was the main one and then we just did linens for the most part at BB&B. I LOVED the C&B registry. We went to a registry event there before the store opened one weekend and it was so much fun. They had mimosas, coffee and waffles for us.

So far we have done Crate & Barrel and Macy's (although we only have our "every day dishes" on the registry at Crate & Barrel.  We will also do BB& B too.

I am think BBB because we already have a house but some of our stuff can be updated and was a discount when we purchased it. So now it has run its course and we need new better stuff. I believe BBB is affordable and I am sure my family will go there and if not they will give cash or a Target card, which is also ( and always) useful!
