how to macth bouqet to the gown and me?

Hi!

Perhaps a stupid question, but I have trouble finding the perfect bouqet to go with my dress.
The dress itself is  strapless, with  embellished embroidery on the bodice and has grand bustles drapig in the skirt (according to the brochure from the salon" :)  )

I've been reading that you need this type of bouqet if the gow is embellished, another is it has bustles and so forth....
The link to the dress.:   http://www.weddingdressesaustralia.org/sottero-and-midgley-jsm1240-jsm1240-by-maggie-sottero-p-3862.html

(I've hope I've done everything right here, first time i post!Smile

Beautiful dress!! I absolutely love Maggie's (I'm wearing the Riviera) When I went to my first meeting with my florist he asked what my dress looked like and what colors I was doing for the wedding and I basically let him take over for me! I would just show your florist a picture of the dress and she what they think.

Ditto. I took a picture of my dress to my florist, shared my general wedding style, told her my favorite flowers, my wedding colors and a few pictures of different wedding bouquets I liked. She basically took it from there and created exactly what was right for my day.

I also took a picture of my dress and just told the florist to make it pretty and keep it seasonal and budget friendly.  My feeling with everyone was to pick good people and then don't micromanage.  Everyone will be happier.

Yeah same here! If you do your homework and pick good vendors, than you should be able to tell them what you want and let them do their jobs.

As a wedding florist myself, I see your dress and envision a voluptuous, full petaled bouquet in a freeform diamond shape or a gentle cascade. Flowers perfect for this would be ruffled, open ones, such as large open roses, peonies, hydrangea, and ranunculus. I would not recommend anything long or overly simple and clean cut. Something like that would be overwhelmed in your highly detailed and richly textured dress (no long-stemmed calla lilies unless complemented by other rounder flowers). I also wouldn't recommend the smoothed and rounded "ball" shape for your bouquet, as that would not complement your full skirt.

There are some bouquet examples like I mentioned in my online shop, http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lilywinkel . These could easily be reproduced in your flowers and color for your wedding day!

I am too having issues with my bouquet and my dress complimenting each other.  Ultimately, the flowers are supposed to be an accessory.  Its not supposed to detract from the beauty of your gown.  I think I may try to do my bouquet in a bright blue (the color of the bridesmaids dresses, who will be carrying green bouquets) rather than white so that it sort of stands apart from my dress.  However, my dress is really plain in the front, unlike yours, so maybe its not such a good suggestion for you.  I keep going back and forth since its hard to tell what everything will look like in pictures!  Good luck!
