moving to hyde park in 30 days can anyone recommend a apt or place  to look in hyde park?

    Try to live very close to the university of chicago campus. If you live too far, it is a very dangerous area. There are some nice apartments on Ellis St. I would google apartment finders or something.

    Oh, and don't ever park on Cottage Grove. They will break into your car.

    I would recommend looking for apartments on the University's marketplace:  http://marketplace.uchicago.edu/.  Craigslist isn't that active in Hyde Park.

    Definitely live east of Cottage Grove and north of 60th Street.  It might be tempting to live outside of that area (rents are cheaper) but it isn't worth it saftey-wise.  There are some really nice places near the lake between 55th and 59th.

    And yes, car thefts are common.  I work in Hyde Park and mine was broken into a month ago.  Just be smart...don't leave anything visible or leave valuables in your glove box or trunk.
