Crate and Barrel Question

Hi ladies,

I am so surprised!  I just got home from work and there were 2 Crate and Barrel boxes outside our house!  I'm just shocked because the shower invites only went out on Friday!   FI and I want to bring any presents that come between now and the shower to the shower to open. It's not that far away that guests will be wondering if their presents arrived.  Anyway, does anyone know how the boxes come packed?  If I open the outside box, will their be another box inside?  (The boxes just seem so big for there not to be another one.)  Also, do you know if there is a packing slip that would ruin the surprise?

Thanks!

I would just take the box with you to the shower as is.

If the guest had the gift gift-wrapped, then it will be wrapped nicely inside.  But, if they didn't, they you're going to see it.  Regardless, the packing slip will give away what it is.
  • Are you sure it's a shower gift and not an early wedding gift?

We recently got some C&B gifts for our anniversary.  They were in separate boxes in the packing box.  It would have been easy enough to avoid looking at the packing slip.  There was a card attached, which might tell you who it's from and maybe even if it's meant to be a shower gift, depending on what the person put on the card.
  • I found that a lot of C&B gifts that we received in the mail were right inside the first box. However, most of those were place settings and they were heavily cushioned with paper.

Yeah, I was impressed with how well they packed ours, but holy packaging batman!  I piled it all in our living room and it was incredible just how much there was.
  • I would just open the gifts now, rather than bring them to the shower to open. If someone sent the gift straight to you, it's probably either a wedding gift or they aren't able to make it to the shower. We got plenty of gifts like that.

If they asked for it to be gift wrapped, it will be. Otherwise, there will be enough packaging to hide the items, but the packing slip will show you what's inside.

I say just open it and see. If you registered for it, it's not that much of a surprise anyway, ya know? :)
