Bridesmaids' Gifts

Hey there!

I put together gift bags for all of my bridesmaids and I wanted to see if you all thought they were good gifts.

-Turquoise (real, I might add) earrings for wedding
-flip flops for post ceremony dancing
-lip glosses
-mints
-Thank You letter

Anything else that would be fun to include? Should I include more things and if so, any ideas of what else would be nice go add?

Thanks!

Are these their BM gifts also or just a little something for the day of the wedding?  If it's their gift them I would buy at least one thing for each girl that suits their personalities.  Shop like it's their birthday.

    That sounds great to me!

I don't know what your budget is, but all that stuff adds up quick when you are putting together a bag for all your bridesmaids. I don't think you need to get anything else at all.

Is this like a BM emergency kit?  Then fine.  But if you're considering this as your WP gift, I'd rethink it.

ditto Jagore:  The earrings are not a gift for your WP.  They're a gift for you to complete your "vision" of your wedding.  The flip flops are also for your wedding.  So they're not really "gifts" for your WP.

Your gift to your WP should not be matchy-matchy.  Nor should it be anything specifically wedding related.

Take the words Wedding Party out of the shopping.  What would each of your friends like for her birthday?  Shop for your friends, not your WP.

What you get your WP doesn't have to be big, splashy and expensive.  What it should be is something that you know they'll specifically enjoy.

Your WP gifts don't have to be, nor should they be, matchy-matchy.  They also don't have to be, nor should they be about your wedding.

The best advice here is to pretend it's their birthdays.  Now go shopping for your friends, not your WP.

Do you have a reader?  A GC to Barnes and Noble, or for their Kindle account, or a reading light and bookmark would be great?

Do you have someone who loves to bake?  A piece of cookware that they've been enjoying or a great cookbook?

A music fan?  Maybe a CD that they've been coveting or concert tix?

A sport fan?  A jersey from their favorite team?

A TV watcher?  A DVD season of their favorite show?

I got my matron of honor a gift card to Sephora because she psychotically loves makeup. I got one a "Top Chef" cookbook because she enjoys the show and cooking. I bought locally-made salsa (she can't get decent salsa where she lives) and a gift card to her favorite restaurant for another bridesmaid who came from out of town. For my SIL, I got her a crapton of flip flops because she never wears any other kind of footwear and I figured that she could never have enough of them.

Just take a few minutes and think about what your friends enjoy doing/eating etc. It's easy and much more meaningful that way. I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding last year and she had me put together the jewelry that she gave us to wear for the wedding (she was way too busy recovering from her hangover) and that also doubled as our gifts. I can't really say I was too touched by that.

Do NOT get the WP things they have to use for the wedding.  Then it is not a gift for them, but a gift for you.  Get them something to show your appreciation for all they have done for you and to be in the wedding.

I'm thinking of these: taking one to a country concert (big music fan), spa day for the girly girl so she can get pampered, flip camera for the party girl who takes pics/video of everything...stuck on what to get my MOH (she my bestie but I'm stressing about getting her the right gift). I've learned to just shop for the person.

I asked my bridemaids for ideas.... some people may think thats strange but I would have donr the same for their birthdays too!!! It was helpful!! And they did say that they were like something they could use for the wedding!! I dont think that it is wrong to get them something for the wedding as long as you get them something special too!!
