kay bridal Maple shade nj--- HELP

Hey
I don't often write on these boards but mainly just read what others write. I have to vent however.. My best friend bought her dress from there.  She also had it altered there for 285 (the max being 295) and today she went and tried on the dress and after it being altered its tooo small. Shes a tiny girl as is whch is why I find it funny that the owner tried to tell her she gained an inch in her boobs and waist. (Yet she still weighs the same and hasn't changed her eating/exercise habits) Shes freaking out because her wedding is may 1st in Turks and Caicos. Furthermore they were supposed to call her when the dress was altered and they never did. She called them  last week and they nonchalantly said oh its been ready. Im going to go with her This week to fight them about the dress (I am the maid of honor and I was there for the alterations) I hope they can fix it and also without charge. Anyone have this happen to them? How did they go about it?

PS I am  also getting married in July and I bought my dress and the 6 bridesmaid dresses there...HELP!

You're going with her just to pick a fight with the people? Weirdo.

no Im going to make sure they don't take advantage of her and make her pay more money in alterations when her body hasn't changed. Im not going to fight them literally.
    Thanks for actually not helping.

I totally understand! My best friend had a HORRIBLE experience at Kay. basically she found her bridesmaid dresses there and each bridesmaid tried to order their dress in the size they wanted and the staff at Kay would not let them order the sizes they wanted and INSISTED that they order a size bigger. There was a huge argument and my friend was like "just let them order their size, they know their size" but the women literally would not do it so they had to order a size bigger and no suprise when the dresses came in they were too big and had to be altered! The women were such jerks there that my friend didnt get any of the alterations there and when it was my turn to go dress shopping I stayed away from Kay...

Anyway, I totally understand your need to vent about them. Good luck, and my advice is stick to your guns and stand up to them! Don't let them take advantage of you or your friend! :)

I went there and tried on dresses. The staff there was really odd and not very helpful. They had me try on 4 dresses and wanted me to make a decision from those 4. I wanted to try on more and they kept pushing this one on me telling me there was no need to look at other dresses. We ended up leaving and never thought twice about going back. Since you already got your dress and the BM's dresses there after knowing what happened to your friend I would definitely go somewhere else to get any alterations done. I had my first fitting with Yeon from Fashion Stitch this weekend and had a great experience. I'm sure she is going to make my dress look amazing! I hope everything works out for your friend.

I bought my dress there, and although I found everyone pleasant and helpful...I had a few issues:

My dress was also too big.  When they ordered my dress, I felt like a cow when I saw the size.  When the dress came in, they told me I lost too much weight.  I wish!!  The dress is corseted so I can get away with it.

Also, I noticed that once prom season hit, they weren't really accomodating with fittings.  They kept pushing me to make appts on the week day in the evening, even though I really wanted a weekend, so my MOH could make it.  And this was when my fitting was a month out!  They told me it's bc they are so busy right now.

Interestingly, my alterations were 285 too, and that was for the length and a bustle.  I asked them to put cups in, but when I went in they told me they had no record of me asking for the cups.

Now reading these posts, I I honestly wished I took my dress to Yeon at Fashion Stitch, which was my initial plan.  I really love my dress, though!

I hope your friend gets some resolution.  And like the PP, I would recommend taking your dresses to Fashion Stitch.  The girls on this board have rave reviews about Yeon!

I'm now getting pretty worried! I ordered my dress from them 2 months ago!  (wedding is next summer).

I did read some bad reivews online but I thought that the woman that helped me (Donna) was really nice so I felt bad not ordering from there.
I agree that they seem weird and shadey and even though we tried our BM's dresses on there I ordered them from another shop. Quite honestly they are weird at this shop as well and I just assumed that that is how bridal shops are.

I am definitely thinking of getting my alterations at another place once it comes in.
Does anyone have any more information for the Fashion Stitch place? I've never heard of it, is it a bridal shop as well or just a tailor?

Any help would be appreciated !
    Thanks !

kcross  Im right there with you.  I also bought my dress there back in Jan when I went in the first time the person who helped me was really nice. I dont rememebr her name but she was very short and I believe spanish.  When I went back to buy it tho Donna was there and we wanted to try on some BM dresses.  She was soo rude!  We ended up ordering the BM dresses from Cove Bridal.  So far they have been great  The owner was so nice.  There was even a problem after we ordered the dresses and she got it fixed without any extra charges.  I think i might take my dress there if I need any alterations after hearing all this.  But where is Fashion Stick Ive never heard of them either
