So... I ordered some white roses from Sam's Club online to do a test run for my DIY bouquets. Flowers to be delivered on Friday to new house while Kevin and I were both at work.... I'm thinking no big deal, box will be there when we get home, put them in water and play with them on Saturday.
No box. No flowers. Mind you, these puppies cost $80. (for 75... really not a bad deal, but still... $80).
Monica has minor meltdown.
I put off messing around with flowers until now... because... well... I'm lazy. lol. Seriously... I thought I would be golden, order flowers... put together flowers... done. Now, they can't even manage to deliver the practice flowers on time. WTF. I call Sams and (politely) explain that I have now lost complete faith in the floral service and should, perhaps, look elsewhere for my wedding flowers. They claim they were delivered, get Fedex on the phone who also claims they were delivered. I think everyone I am talking to is incompetant because I have no flowers. They tell me they will file a claim and look into it and call me back... which still doesn't help the fact that I now have no confidence that they will deliver my wedding flowers on time. pffffffff. idiots.
In walks my new neighbor with a big green box.... full of flowers. Apparently it rained a little on Friday and he saw this box on our doorstep so he brought it inside so it wouldn't get wet. Nice guy. I'm now the idiot. lol. I call Sams and apologize profusely and explain the mixup.
So.... now that I have my 75 beautiful white roses.... I decided to try my hand at bouquets.
Top 10 lessons I learned this weekend:
1. I jump to conclusions very quickly
2. Sam's does deliver flowers. On time. They are beautiful.
3. Flowers come with leaves.... and thorns.... LOTS of them
4. Bridal bouquets look funny with leaves.
5. Thorns are very impractical... not sure what purpose they are supposed to serve, but they suck.
6. When you do remove the leaves and thorns, the actual size of the flower magically shrinks. A bunch of 2 dozen roses with leaves, etc looks nice and full. Remove leaves and stuff and they shrink... 2 dozen looks wimpy. I must figure out the mathematical calculation behind this shrinking thing because it's throwing me off.
7. Apparently, florists have a magic secret weapon that removes said leaves and thorns.
8. I must acquire this secret weapon.
9. I am not good at bouquets. My beautiful batch of practice flowers are still sitting in a pretty vase.
10. I need to find a good, cheap florist. Fast.
