venues

Hi all!
Im looking for a venue for our whole wedding - ceremony and reception. Im looking for something by the shore if possiable. Im thinking we will have about 90 people. We want a laid back feel. Im just wondering if you guys have looked at anything at the shore you could recomend! Thanks!!

Re: venues

  • Check out Anthony's (beautiful and great food), Amarante's (amazing view), and Water's Edge is gorgeous but it's a little fancier than the others.

  • The one's above are great, but all require a 100 person minimum.

If you're looking for something laid back, the West Brook Elks lodge, was just redone, and is a good location for something with a casual feel right on the beach.

  • The Mystic Seaport is a beautiful location- right on the mystic river (more or less the shore) and I don't *think" there is a 100 person minimum location. You could also check out Branford House at Avery Point and Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park, all beautiful!
  • Ditto Mystic Seaport!!

The Inn at Longshore in Westport is another possibility.

  • Im getting married at Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook, so of course I have to recommend it :) I also like Amarantes in New Haven (or it may be West Haven?) and the Inn at Longshore is beautiful too

  • Lighthouse Point Park could work, too. I've heard several people have beautiful, fun, laid back weddings there.

You'd have a little more work to do, but it might be worth looking in to.
  • I got married at Saybrook Point Inn.  It's very nice and laid back and minimum of 50 during the day.  Not sure what night time is, maybe 100?

It's got a nice marina outside.
  • these were both already mentioned, but I def agree with Mystic Seaport (our venue! :) ) and Lighthouse Point Park. The Seaport has a few ceremony/recpetion locations to choose from--you can have your ceremony by a lighthouse, on their North Lawn, at a gazebo etc and the reception can be under a tent on the lawn, in their Boat House or in the River Room.  LPP is right near the water also, and even has a carousel!

  • Mystic seaport and the lighthouse point park

  • Our reception is at the Mystic Yachting Center. No minimum amount of people and you can have your ceremony on site. If you don't care that its in a shipyard which some people are bugged by its right on the water, and the facility is air conditioned which is a necessity for our July wedding!

  • I'm getting married at lighthouse point park! I'm so in love with it! But it's definitly more work. Just up to you if it's worth it or not

  • Lighthouse Point Park (Carousel House) is beautiful and on the water.  It books up fast.  We were not able to get married there because they're already sold out until 2013.
