Just Engaged and Proposals

He surprised Me With A Second Ring!

Ever feel like your walking on clouds? I believe my man has pulled off this feeling for me :) He came home for lunch and I was outside with our dog laying out on this nice day off of work. He came to the back yard with a huge grin on his face, and I will NEVER forget what he said! "Baby, there is no woman out there who could ever come close to or replace an angel like you. And for giving me that satisfaction, I think you deserve better than ordinary", and he handed me my SECOND engagement ring!!!!! OMG, I fell inlove with the first, and will always cherish it, and now the second.. wow. A beautiful Tacori Emerald Cut stone with 3 emerald cut side stones on each side. Words cannot even explain what is going on in my head right now, and I hope other women out there are just as happy as I am. In no way was I expecting anything like this, because I've never been one to ask for anything. I think it's time I repay him with something equally nice. My gift to him is going to be about a years worth of saving up for, BUT... I have found his favorite car, a slick black '67 Boss Mustang which belongs to my step dads Uncle, and is letting me have it for the family discount of $10,000. Gosh, I am still blushing with excitement. How did I end up so lucky? Laughing

  • I'm really refraining from being caddy or a b*tch here..... but your 1st post is to brag about a second very expensive ring?

  • I think that that is wonderful. Congrats in the engagement and congrats for getting a guy who loves you enough to spoil you like crazy. And I am sure that he will LOVE the car. Best of luck!

    ditto.
  • I agree that this might seem braggy, but hey, who wouldn't be excited about a second ring? Cool thing about the car. Our arrangement is, he gets me a ring, I get him a guitar worth half the value. Who says guys shouldn't get something out of the engagement?
  • um....okay.

This. What will you do with the first one? And are you getting him a $10,000 car that's worth half the value of the ring (ridiculous) or a guitar that's worth half the value of the ring? In your first post you said car, then in your next post you said guitar. Me = confused.

    That was a different poster
  • From a male perspective, i think that this was a smart move. I have already planned to get a new ring set when we are married, and it won't be worn until the ceremony. I think that it is great that the two of you are able to spoil one another. I cannot wait until the day that I am able to do things like this for my "angel". As, for those of you that look upon this post as a bragging story...don't be so negative. This website is a happy place. There is no reason that anyone shouldn't be ecstatic over someone else's happiness. I mean aren't we all here because we found happiness and now we are planning to show it off in front of everyone that we know? Just a thought.

When I told my BF about this post entire concept his response was "why are these people acting like an engagement ring is just a really expensive present?! It's a promise to spend your life with someone, not a buying competition.".. This is why I love him.

Well yea, the first one symbolizes a promise but a second one? That's just an expensive present.
  • I just wonder why he felt the need to buy an incredibly expensive second ring. Do you frequently express a desire to want/need more? I wouldn't want a second ring even if it were nicer because that would mean I'd have to take my first one off and replace it.

  • Wow, is there really a need for a second ring?? You should give your first ring to a couple who really needs one but can't afford it.

oh and putting a price on love is a bad sign.

  • Oh my gosh, I am pleasently surprised to see that other girls are getting their future fiances gifts when they get engaged. When my boyfriend and I first started talking about getting engaged, he said if he's buying me a very expensive ring, I should buy him something in return (an Omega watch) and my brother likes the idea but I've always thought it was a bit weird. It's so great to see that there are other people who are planning to do it too. Makes me feel a little less odd.

  • Ummm... it's not a gift exchange.

  • Some of us paid for the ring together, since some of us picked it out ourselves. Some of us also got our dream ring, so no need for a second ring.
