Marriage in court/town hall?

Hi!

Due to personal reasons we may have to get married "legally" (in court? town hall?) before the actual wedding (don't worry, nothing illegal!).

I am wondering if anyone has done this and how does it work?  Is there someone in the town hall that can do this?  And what do you need to do?

Thanks!

you can go to the town clerks office in the town hall, get your marriage license, and the town clerk can marry you. I would call ahead first to make sure that they town clerk is there.

I worked in a town clerks office for years, and quite a few people did it this way.
