September 2012 Weddings

Dress debate, last one I promise!

Dress #1

Pros: light, $600 cheaper than #2, love the crisscross bodice and the full skirt, won't look as dated 20 years from now
Cons: "princess" dress, looks like a thousand dresses

dress #2

pros: the bodice and sweetheart neckline, looks more couture, more original
cons: $600 more than #1, very en vouge at the moment, heavy, could look very dated

There you have it girls, I'm in love equally with both dresses and don't know if the big price difference is enough to make me decide one way or the other. Tell me which you choose and why. Thanks again!

  • I vote number one! I think you look amazing in it =] PLUS you will have $600 to spend elsewhere.

  • Hey! Well I think you look stunning in both dresses, but I really love you in the 2nd dress... I think it looks very couture and it frames your body beautifully!

  • I think you look amazing in both dresses.  I think for comfort sake I would go with the lighter one.  If you want to be dancing all night you're not going to want to be carrying around a big heavy dress or you'll end up sitting (or sweating) all night.  I think the tulle is pretty and you're right, it's pretty timeless.  Maybe you could personalize it with a colored underskirt (petticoat, whatever it's called) that only shows when you're dancing or picking up your skirt.

I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect. I'm glad I didn't fall in love with two dresses, I can tell this has been a tough choice for you.

  • I have to vote for #2.  It's amazing.  I think sweetheart necklines are incredibly flattering.  I know the flowers on the skirt are more trendy now, but I don't think you look looked dated in the future.  On the other hand, I actually think Dress #1 looks a little 1980s with the pouffy exposed tulle and the big bow.

Your body looks fantastic in both dresses, you really won't go wrong either way here.  Perhaps to try them both on again and see if you get that kick in the gut that tells you which is the right one?

  • Both dresses are amazing on you but I vote #2! the lower dropped waist gives you such a beautiful, hourglass shape.

While you look awesome in both dresses (physically) I think you LOOK much happier in dress #1.... Plus you get to save $600 to use some where else!!! If you truely are equally as happy with both of them I say save the $$ for something else!Smile
  • # 2, but I like # 1 too. I'd really like to know what the rest of your wedding will look like, you know to see the whole picture with it to really help you decide :)
  • I really like #2 the best...it gives your body the best shape.  But honestly, go with whatever makes you happy.
  • I picked #1 because it is softer and I love the bodice criss-crossed material. It will not look outdated 20 years from now. The other one looks heavy and the flowers look like they need to be ironed. If the look on your face is any indication, #1 is THE ONE.
  • #1..it's perfect!
  • I love #1. Im not a fan of the bottom on the second one.

  • I love dress 1. and I disagree, I don't think it looks like every other dress out there. I think that the diagonal cut of the skirt plus the layering gives it a very modern but still classic feel.

#1 I love the tulle! I thinks perfectly bridal, but you will feel like your in a party dress for the rest of the night and be able to dance so much better than in the 2nd dress. Maybe they can modify the neckline to be more sweetheart like the 2nd one?

ALTHOUGH the 2nd dress looks amazing on you! and it might be one of my favorite takes on the floral skirt trend. I don't think you can go wrong here.

  • I've loved #1 since you posted it the first time. I asked FI what he thinks as a guy and he said he likes 1 bc it's more flowy and 2 looks like you're a lifesized Barbie cake.
  • #2 I tried on I think the exact same dress and it was super cute and in pictures looked great, just wasnt my style!!

  • I vote number 2!! :)

My take on the whole trendy thing is, who cares....unless you go with something super, super traditional, it is all going to look dated at som point.  and, when, that point comes, I doubt you will care!  Look at all theose poor 80's and early 90's brides :)

hahahaha leave it to a guy to say that, my friends husband said another one of the dresses I tried on looked like fingers grabbing my boobs. Men have the funniest way of saying things

  • I just have to say that #2 looks HAUTE! lol You just look much more sophisticated in it than #1. Number one is nice too, but I honestly think the details in the dresses should tell you which one you should go for. Sexy and Couture or frilly and princessy?? I also don't like how the tulle sticks out on #1 where it's cut in a diagonal. It's kind of funky. My two cents!
