Insanity...I really am Insane

Just started the Isanity DVD's-----this is HARD! But I know with extreme effort comes great results so I'm trying to keep myself accountable by posting here.

Any other Insane people? :)

  • You can do it!

My FI and I just started month 2 this week.  It is tough, but imagine how accomplished you will feel when you're done!

My FI is an Excel nerd and recreated the 2 month tracker to fit on 1 standard sheet of paper with our Fit Test results at the bottom.  I cannot tell you have great it feels to throw a checkmark over each workout as I complete them!

Only advice, make sure you have a great pair of crosstrainers that are not more than 1-2 months old. Your knees and ankles will thank you!

    Good luck!

I completed the full 60 day Insanity program a few months ago.  I wasn't a fan of the month 2 workouts.  I had lost inches during month 1 and gained them back during month 2.  I've been doing random Insanity workouts here and there since I completed it.  I absolutely love it.

I started the program again yesterday.  Instead of doing the workouts as listed, I plan on doing the month 1 workouts twice and completely skipping the month 2 workouts.

    Good luck!

You're right, they don't, but Insanity is heavy in plyometrics and with all of that jumping you really need a qood quality, fairly new shoe.  Most people keep a pair of shoes far too long.  Being a runner, I've just gotten use to changing out shoes every 3-4 months based on mileage.  Because this is a two month program, I suggested no more than 1-2 month old because those shoes will be 3-4 months by the end of the program.
  • On Day 3 here. What the heck was I thinking? haha. I am sore today, plus we went to the wave pool and the amusement park yesterday. I am throwing in Shakeology next week and working on my diet. I noticed I am having a hard time powering through the workout. Are you following the meal plan as well?

I just ordered and should have it sometime this week and going to start it Monday! :)
  • I'm not following the meal plan personally, but I do eat fairly clean.  I'm using MFP to track calories consumed and a HRM to track my workout calories.  Based on the Insanity plan, I should be eating 1900 calories, which is way too much (I think it assumes that I'm burning more than I am). But everyone is different, you have to find what works best for you.  Eat enough to fuel your workouts.  I, wrongly mind you, tried to limit to 1200 calories eaten and try to do an Insanity workout and I nearly passed out.  These workouts are tough and you need the fuel!

I use a pre-workout supplement called Jack3d (you can get it on Amazon) and it makes a big difference for me.  I've done workouts both with and without it and I defintiely have a higher stamina with it.  I've used it on and off over the last few years because your body tends to build up a resistance to it, but it's great for when I fall off the exersice wagon to help me get back into it until I build up enough of my own stamina to go without.

Also, eating enough is really, really important.  I also notice a big difference with how well I can keep up with the workouts depending on how much I've eaten for the day.  I don't always use the recipies in the book, but I do still try to keep my calories balanced like the plan suggests.  Overall, I've just been trying to eat cleaner and I do most of my shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store (less processed foods), which I've noticed makes a difference in my overall energy level.

The scale is not your friend I learned while I was doing P90x. (I am finding Insanity much, much harder). I stayed at the same weight for weeks but lost inches. Have you done measurements?

Muscle weighs more than fat!  And you'll definitely be building muscle along with burning fat in Insanity (which will cause you to burn even more fat, because muscles consume more calories).  DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE SCALE.  You need to keep track by your measurements and fitness tests (although most of us workout for cosmetic reasons, it's motivating to see how your actual health/fitness is improving too).

    Don't give up!!

I am on week 3 of Insanity. Yes it's definitely hard. I am in descent shape and I was still not prepared for this kind of training. OMG!. So worth it though. My problem area has always been my arms and I already feel them a little more toned. :)

  • I'm starting this today! Ugh I'm scared! Haha
