Tacky?

Is it tacky to use plastic plates and flatware at a very informal, outdoor reception?

Re: Tacky?

  • Nope, not if it's casual!  If you're worried about it, you could always get the "fancier" plastics.

  • Not at all, they have such nice options on plastics these days, I went to a resturant that used plastic plates & they were so nice you really had to look at them to tell they weren't glass.
  • Not at all. Check out Smartyhadaparty.com for flatware; it looks super real and is pretty sturdy.

  • Are you having food that requires substantial cutting? Like steak? It is sometimes hard to cut foods like that on plastic and may be inconvenient, but it certainly is not tacky if you're having easy-to/no-cut foods

  • No. Party City has some real sturdy clear plastic that I highly recommend.
  • As long as there is enough food that tastes good and enough to drink (whether alcoholic) or not then you're fine.
