As I read through these boards I'm starting to realize that there is a lot of wedding customs and etiquette that I'm not aware of. I didn't realize that you are suppose to give your WP gifts.  It is very common to give gifts? I was a BM at a wedding and didnt receive a gift so it never occurred to me to budget for this. Also are the gifts just for BM or for GM too?

    You dont HAVE to give a gift but its a nice way to say "hey, Thank you for standing by myside on this day and going thru the whole shanannigans with me planning my wedding day" Some ppl give their BP lots of gifts and some give little. For example
    When I as in my Godbrothers wedding we got our shoes as a gift. When I was in my cousins wedding we got jewelry, flip flops, and a keepsake with a little note written in a card. So pretty much whatever you budget allows for .

    Thanks for the responses. So far only two people have asked to be BM so I'm going to have to keep the WP small so that this expense doesnt get to high. I'll try to be creative and find something inexpensive. I'm letting my BM pick there own dresses to help make things affordable for them.
