Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

order of music at reception?

I'm not quite sure how to set up the music for our reception. My fiance has insisted on doing our own music so now we're in the list making process. We've got a really good list going and most of our important dances chosen, but i'm kinda wondering about a timing thing. I've been to weddings where all of the solo dances were back to back and it was miserable but I can't figure out how we could have the solo dances split up and people still know there's going to be a solo dance.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep peoples attention but also make it obvious what is happening? We may just have to announce it to everyone. More subtle alternatives are welcome also.

I'm in the same boat! Our dj is very laid back and is okay with us picking most of our music ourselves. I have no idea where to start! Best of luck to you:)

We are doing our first dance right after we are introduced, and then have dinner/toasts and the cake cutting immediately after. Then do the FD/MS dances. By then, everything is out of the way and the guests can just enjoy open dancing without interruption. However, we are planning a secret dance, so about 15 minutes after open dancing, my idea is that they will dim the lights and the dj will make an announcement and we come out and do our dance. It's still in the planning stage at this point, but that's my general idea. The timeline is the hardest thing for me right now. GL to you! :)

If you search on line there are tones of sights that have information on different ceremony layouts and reception layouts. Best of luck! :)
