Royal Caribbean vs Celebrity

Thoughts? Deciding between those two cruise lines to the Mediterranean. I have never cruised before, so any input is helpful. Thanks!

Re: Royal Caribbean vs Celebrity

• I've never cruised with either line before but I do know that Celebrity is a bit more upscale than Royal Caribbean. You might want to check out cruisecritic.com to compare the two lines to see which one better suits your needs.
• Ditto PP on checking out cruisecritic.com. I found a lot of helpful reviews on there when I started looking at possible cruises for our honeymoon. I've been on Royal Caribbean before and was very happy with the service.

For our upcoming trip in March, we looked at both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. In the end, it came down to which had the itinerary we wanted the most. For us, it was on Royal Caribbean. I also recommend visiting a local travel agent, we did that and it was great to ask questions about both lines and get all the brochures we needed to make our choice.

• I will definitely check out that site. I didn't know about it so I really appreciate the info!

• Cruise Critic is AMAZING! We just booked a Celeb cruise! Celeb is pricey {for Europe at least}, but it looks like it's going to be really great.

Really? Are you sure?
I really always thought the reverse was true.
Celeb always costs way cheaper than RC.
We always only sail on RC because we think its the nicest.
Celeb is more family / kids.... RC more adults / couples.

Being married is a real thriller! =)

• I have cruised with both Celebrity and RC.
Celebrity last year and RC earlier this year. We honestly loved them both, and I really dont think you can go wrong with either cruise line. The main things I noticed different between the two were that the RC boat was bigger and that Celebrity uses wine stewards at dinner time. This was nice for me since I looove wine :) Other than that, they are very comprable.

• I have only been on Royal Carribean and I was very happy with their services .. the food was pretty good ( although it was more than I could eat!) , they had shopping centers , various bars , restaurants and massages , ice skating rink and rock climbing wall ! it is literally a floating city so there is plenty to do while you wait to reach your destinations.
Bring a sweater!!! it gets cold on the ship and in the evening!

I went on the celebrity solstice last month, it was wonderful! It was my first cruise so I don't have much to compare it to, but I can't think of any negatives. We just booked royal for our honeymoon due to their itineraries. The one thing I would say Celebrity has over Royal is their All Inclusive Drink packages. We bought one of these and it saved us a ton! Happy cruise hunting!
• kristen- thanks! i am definitely getting the drink package. glad to hear it is worth it!

• solstice is the ship i was thinking of...where did you go?
i would be leaving from barcelona then heading to rome, naples/capri, santorini, athens, kusadasi, mykonos, malta then back to barcelona.

• We went on a Celebrity cruise last year and found that it was geared more towards adults than the RC cruises we looked at (which is the opposite of what a PP said). We def. didn't want to be on a cruise with lots of kids around and maybe saw 2 or 3 children the whole time. I thought the food and the ship were top notch.
