Las Vegas Honeymoon!

I'm getting married on Sept 22, 2012. We have decided to honeymoon in Las Vegas for a week. Can anyone give me some suggestions on hotels, shows, etc?

There are so many fun things to do there. If you search this forum, you will find several threads. Suggestions for hotels and things will really depend on your budget. For a first-timer on their HM, the Bellagio or the Venetian would be great if in your budget. I would suggest seeing a Cirque de Soleil show like Mystere but there are lots of great shows to choose from. Vegas.com is a great website to browse to get ideas of what to do and see.

On our last trip, we hung out at the pool, saw the show Zumanity, went to the Chandelier Bar as the Cosmo, and ate at Bobby Flay's restaurant Mesa Grill. We also just walked up and down and saw the different casinos and played a few slots.

For your honeymoon I'd definitely stay at one of the more upscale hotels like The Venetian, Belagio, The Cosmopolitan.

Definitely go see one of the Cirque du Soleis. They aren't cheap but well worth it! I like Mystere. That plays at TI.

You can also do a helicopter ride over the strip.

There's a ton of great restaurants too. Tao and Top of the World are two of my favorites. There are some good buffets too. Paris has a delicious breakfast buffet and Belagio has a great dinner buffet. The Belagio buffet is a little more expensive than some of the others but it is good. Also check out The Wicked Spoon Buffet in the Comopolitan. When my hubby went there they had red velvet pancakes. However, they didn't have them when we went.

I've been to Vegas twice, staying at the Paris and the Mandalay Bay. I'd definitely recommend MB. There's a man made beach. Where else can you find a beach in Vegas? It's great. Just walking up and down the strip is a lot of fun. There's tons to see. A week is a long time in Vegas. I'd recommend doing a trip to the Grand Canyon while you're there.

For hotels, I echo the previous posters and would recommend the Venetian, Palazzo, Bellagio, Wynn, Encore, or the Cosmo. I have been to three Cirque shows in Vegas (Mystere, Zumanity, and O) and my favorite by far was definitely O.

For upscale restaurants, my two favorites are Le Cirque (Bellagio) and L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (MGM Grand).

A week gives you a lot of time, so I would recommend doing day-trips to the Valley of Fire (rent a car-very easy to drive to) or the Grand Canyon (through a tour company).

Since it's your honeymoon, I would also suggest 1/2 day to a full day at a spa.

I highly recommend the Olive Restaurant at Bellagio. We also enjoyed Top of the World as well.

I second the recommendation for "O". Best Cirque show!

I go to Vegas twice a year, and my top 2 recommendations on where to stay would be Bellagio and Ceasars.

Rent a car...hit up the shops, drive to hoovers, so much to do.

Stay at the Mirage - high quality and only 2/3 the price of the higher profile hotels like Bellagio. Last time, we booked hotel and airfare and rental car through Mirage website and got a crazy wonderful low-cost deal.
Oh, and go see Penn & Teller at the Rio. Hilarious show. You can get discounted tickets at the half-price ticket booth up near the Venetian - they sell some tickets at 50% off and more tickets a little less than full price.

We are staying at MGM Grand in one of their new Tower Spa Suites. Really nice room for the price.

We plan on going to see a Cirque show. The FI wants to see Blue Man Group and as a surprise I'm going to pay for him to drive a sports car (Ferrari or Lamborghini) at the speedway, he will be nuts over that.

As far as restaurants go there are SOOOOO many good ones. One of my favorites that isn't so high end (maybe for a casual dinner or lunch) is Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY Hotel. We are actually having our wedding reception there.

I love that place!

I would stay at Cosmopolitan or Paris Las Vegas.

Restaurants I like include Hofbrau haus Las Vegas (off strip - near the Hard Rock), Pink Taco at the Hard Rock Hotel, and Mesa Grill at Caesar's Palace.

We saw Absinthe last year, which I know has been extended, but I'm not sure how long. We loved it! It was in a tent on the grounds of Caesars and they had a bar open and a "beer garden" outside before the show.
