Wedding Band Help--PIP

FI and I took my ring to be inspected & cleaned today. While at the jewelers, we started looking at wedding bands. I didn't really think about this much when we got engaged, but with my setting, a traditional wedding band would not sit flush with my engagement ring. Here is my dilemma: If I get a band that fits to my setting, I wont be able to wear it alone. This kind of bothers me because when I start working in a hospital I won't wear my engagement ring and I wouldn't be able to wear my band alone. Does anyone else have this issue?? Would it look weird to have a band that doesn't sit right next to my engagement ring??

I definitely have that issue, with an oddly shaped ring. We would've had to custom make a band, and to get what I wanted would have been so expensive, so we held off.

Here are the aternatives we toyed with:

1. No Wedding band, just e-ring.
2. Plain white gold band not to be worn with the e-ring but instead on days when I needed something more simple on my finger (not a good solution for us because I don't work with my hands much).
3. Custom make a band to fit perfectly and have it soldered to the e-ring.
4. Buy a more simple right hand ring that we consider a wedding band, not terribly common but I have heard of people doing that.

My wedding band doesn't fit snug against my e-ring - and I kind of like it that way. It sometimes looks like my rings are bangle bracelets on my finger. It is a little annoying though when they twirl around when I'm typing. I like having a wedding band for when we travel.

my ring is very similar (not as big of a diamond though, woo girl!) we found a single (pretty traditional diamond) band that is low profile enough to slide right under the main stone and flush against the engagement rings band. Maybe you could try that!? I can't recommend our jeweler enough, Kramar's Jewelers on Greenfeild in Oak Park (seems like everyone I've talked to has been going there for years). They do a lot of custom work too, so they may be able to create something like this for you if they don't have it in store!

I'm having the same problem. I think if you didn't like the look of an oddly shaped band by itself, you could just get a simple band that you would only wear alone. I've seen some cute stainless steel bands for pretty cheap. I think this is what I am going to do since I work with kids but I still want a band to fit my engagement ring.

I am having a similar problem. I will be working in a hospital as well and don't want to wear my e-ring. I will most likely have my bands saudered together, so our solution is to buy a plain silver band that I can wear to work!

I had a similar problem, but my ring is pear shaped. I looked at several stores for months before the wedding before I found a wedding band with channel set diamonds and small "point" on it that goes underneath the point of the pear shaped diamond. Pic below from our wedding day "artsy pics" LOL

You may have to look a while. I am not having my rings soldered together for that reason, so when I don't want to wear my engagement ring, I don't have to. You can pick up very thin metal strips at a jeweler that hold the rings together in the back,

You can probably find a small channel set wedding band or one with a curve downward to wear...........it just takes time. I honestly don't remember which store we ended up finding this, but I know it was not a chain, it was a smaller "mom & pop" jewelry store. Yes it's a pain to keep looking, but you want something that serves your purpose too.
