Hey ladies,

Long story short--because of budget issues, FI and I are considering changing out honeymoon plans.

We really want to go back to California, and besides doing LA-orange county area type attractions, we're thinking of staying a couple days on Catalina Island.

I know very little about it, but it sounds really romantic and gorgeous.  So if anyone can give me any info or advice, I'd love it.

How long to stay--would 2 or 3 nights be enough?
Where to stay--any recs for nice oceanside hotels with balconies?
How to get there--From what I understand, we can't bring our rental car, right?  We just take a ferry, and walk around the island?  How much does that cost? Should we rent bikes?
What to do there--Go to the beach?  Any particular places to see?  Should we get like a boat tour of the island?

The rest of our honeymoon would be more urban with themeparks, museums, etc... so I think it would be nice to have a few days of just romantic/relaxing/scenic/beachy time.

    We have stayed at Snug Harbor Inn, and it was great! We loved it.
    We went for New Years a few years ago, and even with the night scene, I would say probably just 2 nights was enough for us. And you don't need a car or bike or anything, Avalon is tiny. All the food is spectacular, though.

Round trip is about $75 per person. You can walk it in less than one day. You don't need a bike. The beach there is okay but nothing super special and somewhat small but very pretty views.     I have never stayed more than two nights as I was bored fairly quickly. Book a massage one day and explore the other. There are a few different things you can choose to do. It is very relaxing and quaint.      There are various hotels that can be found. Check out tripadvisor.com

    All of this. I've only been there on day trips, so 2 days is plenty. But it definitely is a neat thing to do, especially for a HM, imo.
