If you could do it over....

What are some things you wish you didn't do for your wedding (i.e. not have a cake, spend more on things you didn't need).... and what are some things you would have done regardless?

I would not hire the make-up artist so early on.  Otherwise I feel so confident with our vendors I am awaiting a great time!

Ditto on frequently reapplying lip gloss for photos. I wish I'd done it more than once. MOH had it in her purse and I just forgot to ask for it.

I wish I'd kept better track of my bag of stuff (my cell phone, namely) - I gave it to someone to put in her car to take to the church, and it wound up going to the hotel instead.

I wish I'd gotten my gown altered at a local tailor, instead of driving all the way to the salon for fittings and overpaying for just a hem.

I'm glad that we didn't spend a ton on flowers, that we used Ann Taylor for bridesmaid dresses instead of going through the hassle of ordering from a salon, that we only had four total bridal party members, that we booked a photobooth, that I didn't spend a lot on my jewelry or veil.

Why do you regret hiring the makeup artist so early?  Are you not happy with her now?  Just wondering because I am a year out and am doing my makeup trials now( trying 3 different people) and planning to book the person I like best.

I'm very, very happy with how everything turned out, and there's a lot that I wouldn't change.

Here's what I would have done differently:
    - Not bother renting lounge furniture (it was expensive, and not worth it)
    - Maybe get lighting (the reception was in a glass-enclosed tent so we wanted the daylight for the beginning of the reception so we didn't think of it -- but it would have been cool after dark.  Can you just do lighting for part of the night, or is it weird that suddenly everything turns pink?)
    - Look into limos and hair and makeup earlier.  I was very happy with what we ended up with, but we didn't have many choices so we were lucky it worked out.
    - Actually care about what the cake looks like.  We did our cake tasting like 2 weeks before the wedding and that was the first time we thought about what we wanted, so we just kind of came up with something on the fly.

I didn't go around to all the tables and thank people for coming and as a result I missed a few people. I still feel terrible about not being able to see each and every one of my guests. But I guess it happens? I would strongly suggest doing it even though it seems like a waste of your time considering how much money you spent you want to enjoy everything else. I would have done a quick walk through the tables and got on with the night.

As far as spending money on little things you didn't really need - I think all of those things made my wedding fantastic. I would definitely be detail oriented all over again and SUPER organized with the planning so you don't lose your head on the day of. Our wedding day was amazing. :)
