What's wrong with waiting an extra year? The extra time will give you more options in terms of planning and you won't end up stressing as much about all the planning (because even if it's small, there will still be a LOT of planning). If you're going to spend the rest of your life with someone, waiting an extra year just isn't that big a deal.

Why is a wedding this year out of the question for him? If he didn't want to get married, he shouldn't have proposed.

Well,we sat down and talked about it last night. What it bolis down to is... he wants the extra time to save he is very frugal and doesnt want to be in debt.. Plus, his step sister and sister are both getting married this year. June and September. Which i can understand 3 weddings in one year for his family would be tough. So we both agreed May of next year would be a good Month. Like i said, the excitement is killing me and i just need to be more patient. I dont want this to be a stressful experience at all. So i think it will be worth the wait.! But if he changes his mind, i wouldnt argue hehe!

But thank you all for your thoughts!

FI and I are getting married in June 2010, after getting engaged Labor Day weekend in 2008. Part of why we had a long engagement was because we were long distance until Christmas 2008, and then we had a crazy first few months living together since I was opening up a new clinic and working 80+ hrs/wk and his father passed away from a long-term illness. And even with the long engagement we're still incredibly busy with lots of DIY projects, so I can only imagine how crazed it would have been if we had a shorter engagement. And my brother had a Disney wedding in March 2009, so I'm really glad this gives my family some time to recover financially from that. Congrats on your engagement...and don't rush through it! Enjoy this fun time in your lives! :)

the wedding is about both of you, not just what you want.

if you can't agree on something as simple as a wedding date, you may want to rethink getting married at all.

Why is there no [thumbs up] over here? Still, [thumbs up].

Also, it is "FI and I can't agree on wedding date," not "me and FI."
