How should I go about this..?

My amazing Matron of Honor wants to throw me a Bridal Shower in her home. She's keeping me out of all the planning details, as she wants this to be relaxing for me, but wanted to know about the gifts I'd be requesting. We have, however, decided we're not registering for gifts, as our home is already well established.

My FI's cousin put in an insert in her wedding invitation about a Wishing Well Wedding, and I have used the wording and shaped it a little and am adding this to our wedding webpage (As I Have Read Inserts In Wedding Invites Are Not Following Proper Wedding Ettiquete)
Note: I didn't see anything wrong, nor did I take offense to his cousin's insert, I actually thought it was well done and tasteful, but that's just me

Anyways, my question: How Do I Address The Lack of Registry Issue For The Bridal Shower?!

*I'm asking in the local board because I think you ladies have great advice, and, well, sometimes things that happen in S FL don't really work elsewhere. I hope you ladies don't mind..And Thank You!

    I'm not normally an etiquette "snob" but the whole point of a shower is to bring the bride gifts....so if u are only wanting money then that's not a fun shower....there isn't anything for the bride to open etc. 

    I would feel uncomfortable bringing money to a shower and then again to the wedding. 

    If you don't want household items you can do a victoria secret  registry and register for nice stuff for the honeymoon. 

    Lingerie, undies, robes or even bathing suits. Or even create a small registry of towels, cooking utensils, new pots etc that you may need to replace, give the guests options. The people who want to bring money will give you money or gift cards regardless.

    I agree.... I was not planning of having a shower though my Best Friend through me a Surprise Shower. My home was too well established considering that we have been living together fo over 10yrs. So I have a habit of always doing Wish Lists especially in VS so my DH can pick something from there whenever he felt the need to buy me a gift & she sent that out. Needless to say, I have Lingerie & Bikini's for a few years. Plus at the wedding everyone brought us envelopes to where they needed to empty out out the Chest twice.

    I second the idea of going with "alternative" gifts, such as lingerie- as long as you and your friend will comfortable with opening such gifts in front of a crowd of women in her home. There'd be nothing worse than your guests picking out lingerie and you being uncomfortable opening and showing it to everyone.
    Word of advice, if you go that route, please, please, please make sure your Matron of Honor knows your sizes to pass along to the guests. If you aren't sure or its been a while since you've been fitted, take 20-30 minutes to go to the store and do so, that way you can be sure to enjoy your gifts. ;)  (This coming from a weekend VS employee, we love our customers, but hate seeing ladies upset when we've sold out in their size!)
    Also, what about decorations from Pier One, Marshall's, etc? Or do you have a hobby that the guests could get you supplies for? I make jewelry, and since my FI and I have also lived together, we don't need a lot of home goods, I might suggest jewelry-making supplies if I get thrown a bridal shower.

    I think that the lingerie idea would be perfect! :) I'll definitely be fitted before the shower to provide sizes to my MOH to pass forward!

    One other question - does she include this on the invite, or verbally tell guests. I hate asking for stuff. The way I saw it was having my close girls around and making a nice, relaxing day of it! No gifts necessary! :/

    Include it on the invite. You can even find/ make cute invites with lingerie on it!

    def include it on the invite...if you google lingerie bridal shower lots of examples come up.
