Help please!

Hi, ladies.

I am having my ceremony and reception at the Hyeholde in Moon Twp.  Since it will be in the winter, we will not be using their outdoor garden space.  The ceremony will be in the same room as the reception.

Can you guys help give me some ideas for the flow of the events since essentially the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing will happen all in the same place.  Are any of you in the midst of planning a wedding with a similar situation?  Have any of you ever been to a wedding at the Hyeholde and remember what that bride did?

I'd appreciate any ideas!

    we did our ceremony & reception at the lemont, in the same room. and in the winter. so i feel ya.

    is there a small area where you can hold cocktails for about 15 minutes? doesn't the hyeholde have 2 floors, or at least different areas where they can place people while they flip the room?

    once the ceremony was over the guests went to the cocktail/bar area. it wasn't really fit to hold everyone for long periods of time, but for 15 minutes it was fine (i think? i wasn't there, obvi). the banquet manager assured me that they are so used to doing this that it isn't a big deal. our tables were set up prior to the ceremony, but pushed to the side with a moving wall set up in front of them. the staff stacked the chairs, moved the wall, pulled out the tables and put the chairs back.

    as far as i know, it was no big deal. however, like i said, i obvi wasn't there. maybe my knottie guest will chime in and give an actual account of how the transition went (even if it went poorly).

    but it can be done, so don't worry too much about it. communicate with the hyeholde, i am sure they will be able to tell you how they typically work such a situation. GL!

    I had my ceremony and reception in one room in the winter too.

    I had my ceremony set up on one side of the room with moving walls. My reception was already set up on the other side, ready to go. (It was a large room). So when the ceremony was over, they just took down the walls and let the people enjoy.

    I'm having my ceremony, cocktail hour, & reception in the same place, too, next February.  The ceremony is held in one portion of a big ballroom, and then once the ceremony is over, the guests go to the cocktail hour which is in the Atrium area of the hotel.  During the cocktail hour, the reception (which is already largely set up, just smushed together behind a movable wall), is spread out into the full length of the ballroom, and the dividing wall is removed.  

    I am planning on attending my cocktail hour and having pictures done prior to the ceremony, which I'm really excited about.  I don't know if that helps at all!

    <strong>Everything went smoothly J.  DH and I found a chair near the bar and enjoyed the delish hors d'evours, wine, looked at your pictures displayed.  It took a little bit more than 15 minutes to change the room around...but it didn't seem people worried to much since the drinks and food were flowing fairly quickly!</strong>

    oh good! 15 min seemed a little too quick when they told me that, so i was leery of their time estimation anyways!

    i'm not sure how it would work if there is no other place to send the guests for cocktails. my guess is that there has to be somewhere else to send them. the staff can't flip the room with everyone standing around in it.

    I think if there is nowhere to send the guests, they would have the guests already seated at the tables to watch the ceremony with the chairs on the back half of the tables, if that makes any sense. I guess that would be the only way!
