I contacted 6 hair/makeup artists over the weekend. 3 of them were already booked and the other 3 said they don't usually book until 2-3 months before the wedding. All similarly priced, similar reviews. Anyone else book their hair/makeup person yet?
I've booked already. My person doesn't recommend a trial until 4-6 months out but she did accept a refundable deposit to secure the date. So, I did that and am going in for my trial in mid-November to be sure I like her and hopefully leave myself some time to find someone else if I don't.
I booked about a year out. One of the people I contacted was already booked. I did a trial to make sure I liked her work and then I will do another, more specific one, closer to time.
I booked hair and make up 8 months out. I am doing my hair and make up trial 2 months before. My hair person recommended not doing too early in case you change your mind.
I already booked my hair/makeup people too. They offer 2 trials as part of their package so we did one last month and will do the second closer to the wedding.
Glad to know I'm not crazy. Waiting until February to book someone just seems like a bad idea, although I think I will wait a bit for a trial since I'm growing my hair out.
We're doing a DW but I booked about a year out. I probably won't be doing a trial (if I do it'll be two days before the wedding so no time to really change plans...) but she comes highly recommended. I love what I've seen of her work and she does airbrush all within my budget
I booked my H&MU about 9 months out, I am getting married in Vegas and wanted to be sure to get my first choice (based on the helpful ladies of The Knot Vegas board!)

My normal hair stylist is doing my hair. And I'm buying some MAC makeup, and then my friend who is really good at makeup is doing it. I'm doing my trials probably in early February...

Hey I'm getting married in Vegas too in April! If you don't mind my asking, who did you book for your hair and makeup?
Yup, got the hair/makeup deal setup a couple months ago. I wanted to get it out of the way along with other things, and they just required a 20% deposit or so of the total estimated amount for the bridal party. I just paid the deposit and it'll go toward my package cost - updo w airbrushed makeup and a trial included. I probably won't do the trial til January.
For your situation, I don't see why they can't book you now, even if they don't typically do it. Have you offered a deposit to them? Or explained that there are other salons that are already booked for that timeframe? They really should be happy to have business planned that far in advance!
So ready to bring our families together and PARTY on April 13th, 2013!
225 Invited 53 Are ready to party! 18 Will be missing out! 154 Are MIA!
