Approximations?

My fiance and I have been looking into photographers for our engagement photos/possible wedding photographers.  What would be an appropriate figure to pay for an engagement photo session?  I have seen quite a range in prices and I am not really sure what figure to aim for.

    Sometimes if you book with a wedding photographer, they offer a reduced cost e-shoot or a package. So when you look for someone to shoot your e-session, I'd also be thinking if you'd be happy to have them shoot your wedding.

    Our wedding photographer charged $200 for an engagement session that came with rights to all the photos, a copy of all photos on a disc, and a few prints for free (forget how many). I also don't know if they charged more for a stand-alone session since we booked them for our wedding as well.

    Costs vary greatly, but here in Dallas, photo sessions run anywhere from $300-$500 and up.  I had mine built into my package.  You might try your local board if it is active.
