2 Showers/2 Different Cities - I will be the one travelling

Hey All,

So my FI and I live away from both of our families and our wedding will be where we are living. We are about 2.5 hours from where all my family lives and about 4.5 hours from where all his family lives.

My sister (MOH) and bridesmaids offered to host a shower where my family lives and my FMIL offered to host a shower where his family lives (i know that she really isn't supposed to... but lets please leave that part alone)

I was wondering, I know traditionally bridal showers are Sunday afternoons. I don't have a lot of time off work (read: none) and wasn't looking forward to driving late at night to get home. How early can she have the shower that's 4.5 hours from where we live? Is 11am an acceptable time??

TIA

Showers can be any day or any time. Friday night, Saturday anytime. If she does 11:00 on a Sunday, then it could interfere with people's worship. Also, then she has to do lunch. Talk to the hostess to see what's convenient for her.
  • Showers can be any day or time that's convenient for the host.

Also, it's typical in my social circle for the MOB and/or the MOG or other close family member to host showers. It might be socially acceptable in your FMIL family, as well.

  • My sister's shower was a Saturday at 12pm and technically hosted by my mom, MOH, myself and another bridesmaid (older sister of her fiance who organized the logistics since she lives in the area of the shower).  Showers can be any day, any time.  My sister traveled from Chicago (so had most gifts requested to be shipped to her there and any presents given at the party were "returned" and gotten again in Chicago or shipped back) so the reason for a Sat. It should be what is convient for the hosts (we also asked my sister what worked for her- she's a pediatric resident so that was super important obviously).
