Secrets vs Palace Resorts....

Fi and I are looking to book our HM in the next month or 2, and we have narrowed it down to either Secrets Capri or the Sun Palace.  Has anyone been to either (or both) and can give me a rundown/review on them??  TIA!!

We are going to Sun Palace next week for our 3rd visit and 4th vacation with Palace Resorts, stayed at Aventura last Dec.

Reasons we love SP: all adult, 24 hour room service, one of the best beaches in Cancun, fabulous ocean views from rooms, 2 person jacuzzi in each room, well stock mini fridge & in room liquor dispensers. Several resaturants to dine at, no standing in line in the moring to make reservations and you can go to each restaurant as many times as you want during your stay.

We also like that we can go to other Palace Resorts in the area for additional dining and activities. Some excursions to runins, ziplining included. We usually also get some spa and golf credits.

The main reason we keep going back is the outstanding service. We have never had any issues and have been treated like royalty at Sun Palace.

  • I just returned from a honeymoon at Playacar Palace. We had AMAZING service the food, and staff was great. We loved that we could go to other resorts and hang out. If you go/book before Dec 31st you get all the extras.
  • Just returned from Sun Palace (part of Palace Resorts) in Cancun  two weeks ago with my honey. Everything 2xtime says is true about Sun Palace. We loved it so much we bought a membership so can now go at a discounted rate and can share it with others. (It runs under $2000 for a couple, depending on when you go. Includes all food, drinks, entertainment, most tours, some golf and spa credits, room service, well-stocked and maintained mini-fridge and mini-liquor dispensers, and Internet access in the business center, airport transfers, as well the right to visit the other Palace Resorts and hang out/eat/enjoy their restaurants and facilities). And as members, we're told we can get discounted airfare from Palace Resorts.)

We loved the included tours to Chichen-Itza and Isla Mujeres. Also, I fell in love with the two-person jacuzzi in the suite so took daily bubble baths! And the seven+-course Italian dinners (you choose the courses - anything and as much as you want, including fancy drinks - have to try the Mayan coffee - fun show with flaming liquor!) and great pool-side buffets (including delicious steaks and fresh fruits and veggies) spoiled us completely. The maid also comes at least twice a day. And the service is awesome!

Yes, it's like being treated like royality. Since almost everything is included we could leave our wallets behind most days! The hardest decisions were what to eat or visit that day, and what spa treatments to get with our spa credits!

Here's my blog with pictures and more details: http://www.gratituderocks.org/2009/11/30/gratitude-to-palace-resorts/

You'll have a blast! It's a perfect place for a honeymoon or anniversary!
  • I just got back from Sun Palace on Tuesday. AMAZING. The service is incredible. The food is okay for breakfast and lunch... I liked dinner so much better because there were a lot more options.

After planning a wedding, I am so happy we went to a resort that spoiled us rotten, we needed it!
  • I'm not familiar w/ either but before I book any reservations
I always go on: www.tripadvisor.com and read reviews (and see pics)
from guests who have actually stayed at the hotels listed.

    ~best wishes. :-)
