Rehearsal dinner invitiations question

Are you doing formal invites? Or are you messaging/emailing/calling people to tell them when or where it is? Future in laws are hosting and when I ask FMIL about invites she said she didn't think we needed them, so now i;'m torn

eta/ we are having a small rehearsal dinner with 15 or so people if that makes a difference

Re: Rehearsal dinner invitiations question

  • FMIL just ordered our rehearsal dinner invitations from Vista Print. They are super cute and I'm excited for them to come in.

I wasn't sure if she was going to do them, but she offered and ordered them!
  • I think it really depends on what kind of rehearsal you are having. Mine is going to be very low key and at my venue. They have a kitchen that we can use so I am planning on just cooking something there and everyone that is there to help decorate and for the rehearsal will get to eat. So I am just spreading it word of mouth. But if you are doing something more formal I would send invites.
  • I think that's up to you and who you're planning on inviting, and how.  I've seen a lot of people make really cute invitations to the rehearsal, with a mention of dinner afterwards, but I think those are entirely optional.  If your FMIL doesn't want to do invitations and is relying on you to pass along the word to the people attending the rehearsal, it's up to you.  If you're just passing along information for the actual rehearsal, mention that your FILs are hosting dinner afterward at ___ restaurant at ___ time, and you would be so happy if they could make it.

  • FMIL is hosting ours at her house...I imagine we'll just spread by word of mouth or maybe she will print up a little invite on her computer and send them out that way but nothing too formal.

  • FI's dad and stepmother are totally handling this one. Because of weird family issues, it will probably be invites, or through word of mouth from me and FI.  It depends on how involved they are being with this. If they are taking the bull by the horns and are the ones contacting the RD venue or coming up with the menu, my guess is that they can figure out how to invite people.

<div>This. And it is nice to have everything in writing and on a piece of paper. We are not doing anything formal because the rehearsal is rather low key. Something fun...FI is designing them.  </div>

  • Here's our invites. FMIL wouldn't compromise because we wanted formal and she wanted backyard BBQ and swimming. To avoid drama and fighting we just booked our RD. She has mentioned still wanting to pay for it but we have it budgeted for just in case.
  • FMIL and FSIL are taking care of the rehersal dinner. The rehersal is on Thursday and rehersal dinner is on Friday. So I have posted invites on FB to everyone who I wanted to be there. My FMIL said word of mouth is enough, so I will just keep it as a FB invite...

  • My FILs are hosting it at their house and want to have invites sent.  They wanted a call if you can't make it RSVP so we'll have that.
