My fiance and I are going through the Together for Life book, choosing readings, and trying to do it really thoughtfully. I'm curious which readings you guys picked or are picking (especially the ones NOT in TFL), and what your reasoning was, or why they were the most meaningful for you.

    Well, we never received one of those TFL books. We had our church's wedding packet which gave us ideas and we just went from there looking through the Bible at readings we might like. We used little stickies and then narrowed them down from there.

    Here is what we used:

    1st reading: Sirach 26:13-16

    2nd reading: 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8

    Gospel Acclamation: Celtic Alleluia

    Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12

    Here's what we're tentatively planning on at this point... It might change!

    First Reading:  Tobit 8:4B-8
    Psalm: T.B.D.
    Second Reading:  1 John 4:7-21
    Gospel:  Matthew 19:3-6

    Our parish has a very thorough Wedding Policy packet that includes all the suggested readings, psalms, music and a liturgy guide if you'd like to look at it and see if there's any readings there not included in TFL that you might like.

    All weddings have the same readings in the Ruthenian Byzantine church. Not sure about the other Eastern Catholics.

    Epistle     Eph 5: 21-33
    Gospel    John 2: 1-11
