Registry gifts for shower..cash gifts for wedding gift..

Hi Ladies,  My f'iance and I need a lot of basic cookware and I would like to register for fine china..but not too many other fancy things..I am hoping to get our registry items at my shower and cash as wedding gifts is there any ways that will hint ppl to give you cash as a wedding gift?   I need some household essentials but I don't want to screw oourselves by registering for too much...

    Nope.  Registering for cash is a no-no.

    This is how it usually works here in NJ.  Cash for the wedding.  Isn't that how it is in Philly?  I thought physical gifts were usually a southern thing.  Either way, don't ask for cash.  :D

    Just be prepared that you may still get things other than cash, including things you didn't register for. We had a small registry b/c we were moving and preferred cash. We got some things off the registry, some cash, and a few things not on the registry and a few gift cards to restaurants. 
    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    I also want specific gifts for my shower and others for my wedding. I used RegistryLove and they let me personalize the gift descriptions to indicate which ones I wanted for the shower and which ones I wanted for the wedding. I would never recommend asking for cash, but if that's what you really want they do allow you to register for cash gifts as well
